When a pair of 5-0 unbeaten programs in Camden County and Valdosta meet tonight at Chris Gilman Stadium, there will be plenty of talent on display in front of the locals of Kingsland, Georgia.

One player that has really been making waves this season is junior signal caller William Jackson, who is in his first campaign starting for Camden County. Jackson played in Florida last year and didn’t get to face Valdosta in 2024, but gets his first shot as Camden’s quarterback against America’s most winningest football team.

“We have a lot of respect for Valdosta and the success they have had over there, but we believe that we are capable of competing with anyone,” Jackson said. “To beat Valdosta, we have to go out and play our game and execute the game plan our coaches have put in place. We need to protect the football and eliminate costly mistakes and I believe if we do these things we give ourselves a chance to win the game.”

Mistakes have been so far kept to a minimum by Jackson behind center as the quarterback has completed 70 percent of his passes for 855 yards, 14 touchdowns and only one mere interception in 2025.

Jackson is guiding a Wildcats’ offense that’s putting up 45.2 points per game this season and takes aim at continuing their success against one of South Georgia’s toughest defenses in Valdosta’s. With plenty of off-season training and 7-on-7’s in the books, it’s no wonder why Camden County’s offense has been humming this fall.

“We had great spring and summer workouts and practices,” Jackson said. “We did some 7v7’s, our linemen got some work at big several big men camps and we got to get after it at OTA’s. All of these things have helped prepare us for this season. I think that we have the best coaches around and we have bought into what they are teaching us.”

Another reason why Jackson and the offense has seen so much success, especially through the passing game is because of the junior’s connection with his wide receivers, including four-star Sean Green and Trenton Hamilton.

Both players have been the go-to-guys for Jackson, with Green hauling in 19 passes for 289 yards, six touchdowns and Hamilton notching 14 catches for 180 yards and two scores. With Jackson’s connection to Green and Hamilton, Camden County has been tough to slow down.

“It’s great having a Sean Green out there to play catch with,” Jackson said. “He’s a special player and he’s just getting started. Sean was one of the first players I linked up with when I first got here. He made my transition here easy. I don’t want to forget about my guy Trent (Hamilton). He’s a baller, too. I want to shoutout to the guys that make everything possible on offense, our offensive line.”

Tonight’s game for Camden County could be a defining moment early in head coach’s Travis Roland’s tenure as lead man as the last time his program beat Valdosta was back on Oct. 21, 2022.

For Jackson, amidst quarterbacking an undefeated team to this point, colleges are in contact with the junior and he looks to be committed to a school by season’s end. For now, Jackson is focusing on leading Camden County to more wins and allowing everything else to take care of itself.

“Recruiting is going good. Recent schools I’ve been in contact with are Pitt, Wake Forest, Georgia, Alabama, Syracuse, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina, Memphis and Cincinnati,” Jackson added. “I want to be committed to a school by the end of the season, but like my coach tells me I want to stay focused on this season, play winning football with my guys and all of that stuff will take care of itself.”
