DeSoto (TX) RB SaRod Baker having a postseason to remember
Is there a running back in the country playing better than DeSoto (TX) junior SaRod Baker right now?
If you take a look directly at the numbers, the argument is mute as the Eagles’ star back has been putting up video game-like stats throughout the course of the UIL Class 6A-II state playoffs.
It was just last week the running back led the way in DeSoto’s 57-44 victory over previously No. 1 ranked Southlake Carroll in the state semis, with the junior carrying the rock 38 times for 366 yards and three touchdowns.
Baker’s last carry in the win over Southlake Carroll wowed spectators on hand at Dragon Stadium as the running back took the hand-off and went 99 yards to pay dirt for the game’s final play.

Looking at the game-by-game totals for Baker, the tailback has rushed for as many yards through these playoffs as many backs around the country would go for in a 10-game season. For the season, Baker has rushed for 3,081 yards and scored 44 touchdowns as the junior is making his case to being the Lone Star State’s Most Valuable Player of the Year.

vs. Longview: 27 carries, 375 yards, five touchdowns
vs. College Park: 24 carries, 202 yards, touchdown
