Four-star center Obinna Ekezie Jr. transfers to Southeastern Prep (FL)

Obinna Ekezie Jr., the top-ranked center from the Class of 2027, will represent Florida’s Southeastern Prep for the 2025-26 season. Ekezie confirmed his transfer from Prolific Prep to Southeastern Prep via post on X/Twitter.
The seven-foot big man played his first two high school basketball seasons with Prolific Prep. This time, the four-star center will stay in Florida, but for another team. Ekezie will team up with Beckham Black and will play for coach David Peavy.
Ekezie’s father, played for five NBA teams and had professional basketball stops in Serbia, Italy, and Russia. The former Maryland standout also played for the NBA G League’s Columbus Riverdragons.
His son, Obinna Ekezie Jr., takes the next step of his basketball journey after participating in the Chipotle Nationals and the NBPA Top 100 Camp. This time, he will join a team that finished with a 16-8 record during the 2024-25 high school basketball season.

While Ekezie still has two years of high school basketball left, being a four-star prospect is already gaining him some attention from college basketball programs. As he posted on his X/Twitter account, he received offers from Georgetown, Louisville, BYU, Maryland, USC, Kentucky, Cal, Virginia, Alabama, Baylor, and Duke, among others.
In addition to being the best center among high school juniors, Obinna Ekezie Jr.’s 98.14 Industry Ranking is also the sixth-best prospect among the Class of 2027. Ryan Hampton, C.J. Rosser, Baba Oladotun, Paul Osaruyi, and Lincoln Cosby are all ranked ahead of him.
