The high school football season continued in Iowa last week, as many of the top programs in the Hawkeye State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Iowa high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 28.

1. Dowling Catholic Maroons

The Maroons are on an eight-game winning streak after a 42-0 shutout of Marshalltown. It’s the third time this season that they’ve blanked an opponent. Dowling Catholic will face Waterloo West on October 31 for their 2025 Iowa high school football regular season finale.

2. Waukee Northwest Wolves

After losing to Waukee, the Wolves bounced back with a 42-7 win over Norwalk. Already qualified for the state playoffs, Waukee Northwest will finish the regular season against Indianola on the 31st.

3. Valley Tigers

The Tigers responded to their loss to Ankeny via a 63-0 shutout of Des Moines Lincoln. The game was out of the Railsplitters’ reach when Valley scored 35 first-quarter points. The Tigers will complete their 2025 Iowa high school football regular season schedule against Prairie on the 31st.

4. West Lyon Wildcats

The Wildcats continued their streak of limiting opponents to seven points or less. Their latest game was a 48-6 domination of East Sac County in the first round of the Iowa Class 1A state playoffs. West Lyon will face Lawton-Bronson in the next round on November 7.

5. Ankeny Hawks

The Hawks closed the 2025 Iowa high school football regular season with an emphatic 61-0 victory over Lincoln. With a 7-2 record, Ankeny qualified for the Class 5A state playoffs, which they will start against Southeast Polk on October 31.
