The high school football season continued in Maryland last week, as many of the top programs in the Old Line State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Maryland high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 28.

1. St. Frances Academy Panthers

The best team in Maryland high school football is on a six-game winning streak after defeating Hun School 29-7. Those were the only points surrendered by the Panthers in their last five games. St. Frances Academy will continue their season with a home game against The St. James Academy on November 1.

2. DeMatha Catholic Stags

The Stags maintained their perfect season after edging St. John’s College in overtime 23-20. Elijah Lee’s two-yard rushing touchdown proved to be the game-winner. DeMatha Catholic can improve to 9-0 by defeating Gonzaga on October 31.

3. Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers

Beating Loyola Blakefield, 56-6, gives the Cavaliers a six-game winning streak. Archbishop Spalding has given up only 23 points in their last four games, and they will seek to keep that momentum going in their 2025 Maryland high school football regular season finale against Mount Saint Joseph on the 31st.

4. Good Counsel Falcons

It’s been a roller-coaster ride for the Falcons, alternating wins and losses in their last five games. Unfortunately, their last match was a 13-7 loss to Gonzaga, in which Good Counsel stared at a 7-7 tie after the first quarter. The Falcons will try to bounce back in their game against Bishop McNamara on November 7.

5. McDonogh School Eagles

After losing to Calvert Hall, the Eagles responded with a 25-0 shutout victory against Concordia Prep. This result marks the second time McDonogh School blanked an opponent in the 2025 Maryland high school football season. Their campaign will continue against Gilman on November 1.
