Michigan High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Oct. 20

The Michigan high school football season is heading into the final two weeks of the season as clubs try and make their final push towards making the MHSAA playoffs. Which teams from the Wolverine State are featured in this week’s latest set of Top 25 high school football rankings?
Detroit Catholic Central continues to remain the No. 1 after a 36-14 victory over Grand Ledge last week. There’s a shakeup within the Top 5, with last week’s schedule pushing two teams up in Rockford and East Kentwood, respectively.
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest Michigan high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 20.
1. Detroit Catholic Central (7-0)
The Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks (7-0) have been on an absolute roll to start the season as the team has raced out to a 7-0 start behind the steady play of their offense. The Shamrocks dominated St. John’s Jesuit last week in a 48-7 beatdown.
With Michigan State receiver commit Samson Gash leading the way with 29 catches for 529 yards and nine touchdowns, there’s very few teams around Michigan that can feasibly slow them down.
Up next for Detroit Catholic Central is a matchup against Martin Luther King Jr. in the regular season finale on the road.
2. Hudsonville (8-0)
The Eagles (8-0) are a Michigan state championship runner-up from the 2024 season and have emerged as one of the state’s top programs on a weekly basis.
Hudsonville had been dominant at the early onset of the season, but have had a couple close calls in the last two weeks of play. The Eagles narrowly defeated Rockford, 35-28, then just edged out East Kentwood, 43-42, and last week they cruised to a 63-14 win over Grand Haven.
In the last game of the season, the Eagles will go on the road to take on Grandville.
3. Rockford (7-2)
The Rockford Rams (7-2) make their way inside of the Top 5 this week’s Michigan high school football rankings, coming off of a solid 34-14 victory over Caledonia last week.
After losing to Hudsonville to No. 2 just over a couple weeks ago, but the Rams have bounced back since then. Rockford has won back-to-back games Jenison and Caledonia since that loss. Now the Rams look to close out the regular season with a home tilt against West Ottawa on Friday night.
4. East Kentwood (6-2)
The Falcons (6-2) make their way back inside of the Top 5 this week coming off of an impressive 35-20 victory over Grandville last week.
