The high school football season continued in Michigan last week, as many of the top programs in the Great Lakes State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed. Detroit Catholic Central blasted Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep, Cass Tech played a game over the course of two days and Saline quarterback Tommy Carr had a record-setting performance.

Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 Michigan high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 21.

1. Detroit Catholic Central (5-0)

The Shamrocks turned one of the biggest Michigan high school football games of the weekend into a snoozer, routing No. 3 Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep 29-14. The game wasn’t nearly as close as the final score would indicate as Detroit Catholic Central led 29-7 at halftime. Next up for the Shamrocks is a matchup against De La Salle Collegiate on Friday.

2. Cass Technical (4-0)

The Technicians’ rivalry game against Martin Luther King, Jr. was suspended on Friday due to the behavior of unruly fans in and out of the stadium. The two teams resumed the game on Saturday, with Cass Tech winning 27-22. The Technicians’ 2025 Michigan high school football season continues on Thursday with a game against Mumford.

3. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep (3-2)

The Eaglets saw their 10-game winning streak snapped Friday against No. 1 Detroit Catholic Central. Junior quarterback Jabin Gonzales completed 21 of 29 passes for 184 yards in the loss. Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep will face off against Detroit Country Day on Friday.

4. Hudsonville (4-0)

The Eagles kept West Ottawa winless with a 42-21 victory on Friday but it wasn’t easy. Hudsonville only led 14-7 at the half before erupting for 21 points in the third quarter. Next up for the Eagles is a matchup against Jenison.

5. West Bloomfield (4-0)

The Lakers rallied from a 10-6 halftime deficit to put away winless Lake Orion 33-16 on Friday night. West Bloomfield‘s 27-point third quarter proved to be the difference. The Lakers will continue their Michigan high school football season Friday night against Groves.

6. Davison (4-0)

The Cardinals lit up the scoreboard Friday in their 63-42 win over winless Heritage. Senior running back Jacob Garris rushed for 199 yards and three scores while Jaxson Dosh added 103 yards and three scores as well. Davison will face another winless team on Friday in the 0-5 Saginaw Hawks.

7. Rockford (4-1)

The Rams pulled out a gritty win over No. 11 East Kentwood on Friday, 21-14. Rockford never trailed in the matchup and got a pair of rushing touchdowns from seniors Jayden Peoples and Luke Ahern while quarterback Brayden Daniels connected with sophomore Jackson Cummings for the team’s only passing score. The Rams’ schedule gauntlet continues this week with a matchup against No. 9 Grandville.

8. Saline (4-0)

Hornets quarterback Tommy Carr was white-hot on Friday, throwing for 508 yards and eight touchdowns and rushing for another score in Saline‘s 61-34 win over Dexter. Carr’s nine total touchdowns is the third-most in a game in Michigan high school football history. Next up for the Hornets is a date against Monroe on Friday.

9. Grandville (3-1)

The Bulldogs gutted out a 28-7 win over Caledonia on Friday but an injury to star running back Jayden Terry muted the team’s celebration. Terry left the game with a knee injury in the first quarter and was spotted on crutches in the second half. Grandville‘s Friday matchup against No. 7 Rockford will be one of the biggest Michigan high school football games of the weekend.

10. Harper Woods (4-0)

The Pioneers escaped with a 28-27 victory over Stoney Creek on Friday, stopping a two-point conversion with six seconds left that would have put the Cougars ahead. Harper Woods will face winless Southfield on Friday.
