National High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Oct. 27

The national high school football rankings via Massey Ratings sees a new No. 1 as St. John Bosco (Calif.) Braves has leapfrogged previously top-ranked Bixby (OK).
The Braves took care of business on the field in last week’s 42-0 rout of Servite, with Southlake Carroll (TX) at No. 2. Florida’s No. 1 IMG Academy and Bixby are No. 4-5, respectively. Which other programs were able to climb into the national rankings this week?
As the regular season begins to wind down around the country, high school football teams around the nation continue their quest for the all mythical national crown.
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest National high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 27.
1. St. John Bosco (Calif.) (8-0)
St. John Bosco (9-0) finally jumps ahead to the top spot in the national rankings as they notched a 42-0 victory over Servite last week.
The Braves’ 27-14 victory over Santa Margarita Catholic a couple weeks ago on the road, provided another piece of evidence on just why St. John Bosco would be a worthy of the No. 1 ranking in the country.
Through the first couple of weeks of the regular season, St. John Bosco only got to play two quarters against Manatee (Fla.), coming away with a 31-0 victory, the Braves returned home and routed Texas’ Eastwood 66-7.
The Braves this week plays in what could be dubbed the Game of the Week in the country when they face off against rival Mater Dei at Panish Family Stadium.
2. Southlake Carroll (TX) (8-0)
The top-ranked team from the Lone Star State in these latest national high school football rankings are once again the undefeated Southlake Carroll Dragons after they romped another opponent, defeating Bell in a 49-0 rout.
There’s little question that Southlake Carroll (9-0) might be playing the best football of the season behind the play of their high-octane offense. Leading the way is Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda and Ohio State pledge Brock Boyd, with the pair fueling a Dragons’ offense that’s averaging over 50 points per game this season.
Southlake Carroll looks to complete a 10-0 season when they face Keller Central on Friday night.
3. IMG Academy (Fla.) (8-0)
If you had any doubts of the IMG Academy‘s dominance, look at their previous three contests before they defeated NFL Academy. Against Coronado (Nev.), Mandarin (Fla.), Phenix City Central (Ala.) and Venice (Fla.), with the Ascenders winning by a combined score of 212-41. Oof.
The Ascenders rolled to a 38-14 win over East St. Louis (Ill.) at home on Saturday afternoon,
Senior running back Le’Khy Thompkins has been the team’s battering ram on offense as the bell cow rushed for nearly 200 yards in the win over the Flyers.
The Ascenders are back on the road this week when they face Hun School (7-2) in New Jersey.
4. Bixby (Okla.) (8-0)
The Bixby Spartans (8-0) finally dropped a few spots from No. 1 after last week’s 38-22 win over Mustang.
The Spartans have been unstoppable on offense, averaging just over 60 points per game, with their final two regular season tests will be against Deer Creek and Norman, respectively.
Senior quarterback Carson Kirby has been a steady hand behind center for Bixby, with the passer completing 113 of 154 passes for 1,744 yards, 25 touchdowns and two interceptions. The Spartans have remained the top team out of Oklahoma and should run the table to a 10-0 regular season record with the way they’re playing.
5. Allen (TX) (8-0)
Other than Southlake Carroll, no other Texas high school football team has been more consistent than the Allen Eagles. The Eagles’ latest win came down to the final minutes as they narrowly defeated No. 19 Prosper, 31-30.
Allen’s last two games come against a pair of 1-win teams in McKinney Boyd and Plano East, respectively.
The Eagles (8-0) has been able to run through the opposing competition with ease, as they showed in recent victories over a previously undefeated Plano group, 56-0, and Princeton, 62-14. The offense has been sizzling behind the play of Arizona three-star wide receiver commit Caleb Smith, who has made 33 catches and racked up 542 yards.
6. Buford (Ga.) (9-0)
Are the Buford Wolves the prohibitive favorite to win Georgia’s Class 6A high school football classification?
The Wolves improved to 9-0 last week after a 55-7 rout of Mountain View, the latest blowout win in their march towards an undefeated campaign. If there is a team that seems primed to knock Grayson off of its pedestal, it looks like Buford would be that threat.

One of the top defensive front sevens in the Peach State resides in Buford, as they feature four-star edge rushers Bryce Perry-Wright (Texas A&M) and Dre Quinn (Clemson) along with four-star safety Tyriq Green (Georgia). Through nine games, the defense has only yielded 98 points and has shown they can play with the best of ‘em.
Buford will be challenged this week in the regular season finale when they face off against Mill Creek (7-2).
7. St. Frances Academy (Md.) (5-1)
St. Frances Academy (5-1) has looked like the team we thought they were back in the early weeks of the season, latest example being a 29-7 victory over a very good Hun School team from New Jersey.
The Panthers have leaned on Virginia commit Jae’Oyn Williams and 2027 running back Sa’Nir Brooks, as the pair helped them cruise past Chaminade-Madonna Prep at the Broward County Classic High School Football Showcase. The only loss of the season has come against St. John Bosco (Calif.) on the road, making the Panthers a very viable contender for a mythical national title.
What separates St. Frances Academy from many of the nation’s elites is the play of their defense, led by five-star edge rusher Zion Elee, who is a Maryland commitment. Next up for the Panthers is a home date against Virginia’s No. 1 ranked The St. James Academy this Saturday at Under Armour Stadium in Baltimore.
8. Grayson (Ga.) (8-0)
It was another week, another blowout win for Grayson as they rolled to a 42-3 win over South Gwinnett.
The loss of quarterback Travis Burgess for the rest of the season was a massive blow, but don’t tell the Grayson that it’s going to hold them back whatsoever. Grayson has done just fine, however, out-scoring opponents 404-74 through seven contests.
Texas five-star commit Tyler Atkinson has been playing very well for the Rams in the front seven, racking up 56 tackles, 18 for a loss and seven sacks.
The Rams end the regular season with Archer this week.
9. Thomas County Central (Ga.) (9-0)
Playing against one of Georgia’s top teams in Houston County last week, Thomas County Central (9-0) made it look easy in a 31-7 victory.
The Yellow Jackets are averaging 53.2 points per game by an offense that’s been fueled by a balanced offensive attack, led by the play of Wake Forest commit Christian Lawrence, who has carried the rock 105 times for 1,069 yards and scored 15 touchdowns.
Thomas County Central aims to complete an undefeated, 10-0 campaign when they take on Coffee on Friday night.
10. Aledo (TX) (8-0)
Making their way into the Top 10 are the Aledo Bearcats (8-0) as they rolled in a 72-10 win over Richland last week.
When it comes to red hot teams out of the Lone Star State, Aledo is a team that has been rolling offensively behind a slew of playmakers on the offensive end. The Bearcats this season are averaging a sizzling 44.1 points per game.
The Bearcats will close out the regular season with games against Azle and Denton.
