North Carolina High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Oct. 6

The high school football season continued in North Carolina last week, as many of the top programs in the Tar Heel State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.
Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 North Carolina high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Oct. 6.
1. William Amos Hough Huskies
The Huskies are still perfect six games into the 2025 North Carolina high school football season. Their last victory was a 43-0 domination of West Mecklenburg. However, William Amos Hough had a bye week before returning to action against Garinger on October 10.
2. Providence Day School Chargers
The Chargers had a break after defeating Cannon School last September 26. Providence Day School can improve to 7-0 by defeating Christ School on October 10.
3. Grimsley Whirlies
The Whirlies remain undefeated through six games. Their last match was a 21-14 victory over Varina, wherein Ty Shoemake, Hudson Cooper, and Micah Williams scoring touchdowns. Grimsley can earn their seventh consecutive victory by winning against Ragsdale on October 10.
4. Weddington Warriors
The Warriors’ 47-0 shutout victory against Marvin Ridge extended their winning streak to five games. It’s also the fourth time they’ve limited an opponent to seven points or fewer. As they continue the 2025 North Carolina high school football season, Weddington will visit Cuthbertson on October 10.
5. Millbrook Wildcats
The Wildcats are at 6-0 for the season after defeating Leesville Road 28-0. Bryson Gray threw for 296 passing yards and a touchdown, while Brilison McCullers had 121 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Malachi Thomas and Malachi Gilchrist went above 100 receiving yards. Millbrook will face Broughton on October 10.
6. West Charlotte Lions
The Lions pushed their winning streak to four games after defeating Independence 31-7. Jamouri Nichols had 226 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Emory McClain Jr. finished with 91 rushing yards. Nichols added another rushing TD, while Donte Nicholson had 118 receiving yards and two TDs. West Charlotte will play Butler on October 17.

7. Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders
After suffering their first loss in the 2025 North Carolina high school football season, the Crusaders responded by defeating Ambassador Christian 42-0. In blanking the Lions, the Cardinal Gibbons defense registered six tackles for losses, three sacks, and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Noah Terry (119 yards, one touchdown) and Aaron Anderson (136 yards, one TD) powered their run game. Brayden Karras added two receiving scores. The Crusaders can start another winning streak by defeating Holly Springs on the 10th.
8. Mallard Creek Mavericks
The Mavericks are back on the winning track after a 33-14 outcome versus North Mecklenburg. Cailen Napier threw for two touchdowns, while Antonio Fokes and Xavier Edmond had rushing touchdowns. After this victory, Mallard Creek will face a tough challenge as they visit Independence on October 17.
9. Cleveland Rams
The Rams remain spotless through six games. In their 43-0 win over Fuquay-Varina, Porter Bennett had 90 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, while Owen Hulbert finished with 183 passing yards, 38 rushing yards, and two TDs. Meanwhile, Cleveland’s defense terrorized the Bengals with 19 tackles for loss. The Rams will proceed to their October 10 home game against Garner.
10. Myers Park Mustangs
The Mustangs were impressive during their 58-0 shutout victory against Garinger. It’s the first time this North Carolina high school football season that they’ve kept an opponent off the scoreboard. Likewise, they’ve limited four opponents to seven points or less. Myers Park will host Hopewell on the 10th.
