The high school football season continued in North Carolina last week, as many of the top programs in the Tar Heel State were in action. Plenty of interesting results followed.
Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state title. Below are the top 25 North Carolina high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Sept. 30.
1. William Amos Hough Huskies
The Huskies had a statement victory, blanking West Mecklenburg 43-0. It’s Hough’s second shutout victory and their largest victory margin this season. More importantly, the best team in North Carolina high school football improved to 6-0. William Amos Hough can extend their undefeated run against Garinger on October 10.
2. Providence Day School Chargers
The Chargers remain undefeated through six games. In their 55-21 victory over Cannon School, Zaid Lott threw for 204 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Aidan Gallos had 93 rushing yards. Gordon Sellars added 94 receiving yards and a touchdown. Likewise, the Providence Day School defense finished with eight sacks, three courtesy of Griff Galloway. The Chargers can improve to 7-0 with a win against Christ School on October 10.
3. Grimsley Whirlies
The Whirlies are at 5-0 after a dominating 66-6 demolition of Western Guilford. Grimsley made quick work to victory by scoring 59 first-half points. Grimsley returns to action on October 3 against Virginia’s Varina.
4. Weddington Warriors
The Warriors pushed their winning streak to four games after a 21-6 victory over Sun Valley. Weddington has limited their opponents to single-digit scoring in three of their last four games. The 2025 North Carolina high school football season for the Warriors continues with a road game against Marvin Ridge on October 3.
5. Millbrook Wildcats
The Wildcats remain spotless after a 28-7 victory over Rolesville. Brilison McCullers led the Millbrook ground game with 106 rushing yards and a touchdown. They will host Leesville Road on October 3.

The Mavericks remain in the top 10 despite losing to West Charlotte. Mallard Creek scored only nine points, their lowest output in six games. They can bounce back by earning a win against North Mecklenburg on October 3.
