One of the nation’s top high school football quarterbacks in Ohio State commitment Luke Fahey had himself a night on Thursday.

In Mission Viejo‘s wild 76-49 victory over Los Alamitos yesterday, Fahey unofficially threw for 562 yards and five touchdowns, according to the Orange County Register. Fahey had entered the game with 2,539 yards and 20 touchdowns through nine games. If the numbers stand close, Fahey will have surpassed the 3,000-yard plateau for his senior season with playoff games still on the horizon.

Last season, Fahey threw for 1,638 yards, 17 touchdowns and zero picks, sharing time behind center with Drai Trudeau and combining together for 33 touchdowns through the air. For his high school career, Fahey has thrown for 6,361 yards and 63 touchdowns before Thursday night’s performance.

Fahey, who committed to the Buckeyes back in the summer, spoke to Rivals back in late August regarding his decision to head over to Columbus once his high school playing days are over.

“With what coach (Ryan) Day has done with that program and the track record he has with quarterbacks, I feel like if you got that opportunity it wouldn’t be smart to say no just because of what he’s done with that program and the quarterback position getting those guys ready for the NFL,” Fahey said.

“They always have a winning record, they’re always competing at the highest level. When you have people believing in you like that and giving you the opportunity, you have to take full advantage of it and see where it goes.”
