According to the Massey Ratings, the No. 1 team in high school football resides out of Oklahoma. The Bixby Spartans come in ranked as the country’s top team after defeating Jenks in a wild shootout, 66-35. What other Oklahoma high school football teams make the cut when it comes to the best out of the Sooner State?
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest Oklahoma high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Sep. 29.
1. Bixby Spartans
Bixby (5-0) plays some of the most unorthodox style of football you’ll see on the high school football level and led 38-35 against Jenks, at halftime. The Spartans were able to score 28 unanswered points to come away 66-35 winners to claim being Oklahoma high school football’s No. 1 team.
The Spartans opened the 2025 Oklahoma high school football season with a 49-21 whooping of Owasso. It was just last year when the Spartans notched a one-point victory over the Rams to capture their tenth Class 6A-I state championship.
The Spartans followed the win up over Owasso with a 56-7 rout of Charles Page the following week and have won five straight to start the season. Bixby has one of the top offensive line units in the state, thanks to four-star prospect Kaeden Penny (Oklahoma commit) and Jacob Hamlin. Next up for Bixby is a meeting with Moore (2-2) on Friday night.
2. Jenks Trojans
The Trojans (3-1) avenged last season’s 30-27 loss to Owasso in the Class 6A-I state semifinals in Week 2 when they defeated the Rams, 31-21. Could this be the season Jenks reaches the state championship in 6A-I?
Jenks have leaned on players like running back Kaydin Jones, wide receiver Malakai Dillard, offensive tackle Odaefe Oruru, interior lineman Ryley Kester, safety Kailib Dillard, and defensive back Ace Gilliam to help them claim victories over the course of the first few of weeks.
The Trojans are coming off a 66-35 loss to top-ranked Bixby (see above) and look to bounce back this week when they take on an undefeated No. 4 Norman group.
3. Owasso Rams
Owasso (2-3) started the regular season off with three straight losses before beginning to bounce back and now currently riding a 2-game win streak. The Rams fell a few weeks ago to the Spartans in a 49-21 rout and dropped to 0-2 when they fell the following week in a 31-21 loss to Jenks. Now Owasso is looking to get back on track the rest of the way.
The Rams feature one of the top offenses in the state, led by quarterback Drew Frankenfield, wide receiver Takhari Bethel, defensive lineman Tajh Overton, safety Carter Langenderfer, offensive lineman Brooks Barron, and wideout Julius Wilson.
Owasso looks to win three in a row when they take on Union this week.
4. Norman Tigers
Through four games so far, the Norman Tigers (4-0) have already impressed with a fast start as they most recently picked up a 35-25 victory over North.

With the kind of firepower the team has on offense, this unit could begin finding their groove sooner rather than later. Norman’s offense is senior-laden, including the likes of wide receivers Crew Noles, Ryder Murphy and offensive linemen Julius Stephens, Elie Joseph.
The Tigers are back on the gridiron at home against No. 2 Jenks (3-1).
5. Norman North Timberwolves
Cracking the Top 5 are the Timberwolves (3-1) which are coming off a thrilling 49-48 win over Memorial last week.
Norman North started off the season with a 19-13 loss to Norman, but is currently now on a three-game winning streak since the opener. The Timberwolves has one of the better offenses in the state, which includes senior four-star Mason James (Washington commit), junior four-star tight end Ben Kolar and three-star offensive tackle Daniel McMorris.
Next up for Norman North is a matchup against a winless Westmoore (0-4).
