Prediction: DeSoto (Texas) reaches 6A-DII state semis

The 2025 high school football season will be getting underway in less than six weeks, which means it’s officially preview season. Rivals is breaking down the nation’s top teams from coast-to-coast, and today we head to the Lone Star State and look at three-time state champion DeSoto. The Eagles lost in the state quarterfinal round last season of the UIL’s Class 6A, Division II playoffs, falling short of their ultimate goal of winning a state crown. With a stacked roster once again, can DeSoto get themselves back to the state championship game?
Player Spotlight: WR Boobie Feaster
There are not many talents around the country that are quite like Boobie Feaster. The fleet-footed wide receiver is coming off a superb 2024 season for the Eagles in which Feaster hauled in 57 passes for 824 yards and 13 touchdowns. With Daylon Singleton having graduated, Feaster becomes the No. 1 target in DeSoto’s offense as they break in Legend Howell as the starting quarterback this fall. The two will get well acquainted with one another as they build a rapport as the top quarterback-wide receiver tandem in the state.
Others to watch: ATH Myson Johnson-Cook, S Markel Ford, EDGE D.J. Rumph, WR Antron Edmundson, WR Kendrick McCoy, RB Tyree Nobles
Season Prediction: 8-2
Playing up against some of the best teams in the Lone Star State is never easy. For the DeSoto Eagles, they take on a handful of Texas’ high school football programs this upcoming season. We see the Eagles opening up the season with a blowout victory over Creekside (Ga.) and then drop their second game against North Crowley on the road. Later on in the season DeSoto falls to Duncanville for their second loss, but we can see the Eagles still making a deep playoff run in Class 6A, Division II. DeSoto reaches the state semis before bowing out of the postseason.
