Prediction: Martinsburg (W.Va.) rolls through schedule in pursuit of three-peat

The 2025 high school football season will be getting underway in less than six weeks, which means it’s officially preview season. Rivals High School will be breaking down the nation’s top teams from coast-to-coast, beginning today with West Virginia powerhouse Martinsburg. The Bulldogs have won back-to-back state titles and will be gunning for a three-peat when they open their season on Aug. 29.
Player Spotlight: QB Brian Dick
Brian Dick will be taking over the reins of the Martinsburg offense following the graduation of Marshall-bound Koi Fagan, but he’s not a completely unknown quantity. The 6-foot signal caller was a featured component of the Bulldogs’ rushing offense last season, running for 776 yards and 12 touchdowns as a sophomore. If Dick proves to be equally dangerous as a passer, that will go a long way in determining if Martinsburg will add to its trophy case in 2025.
Others to watch: WR Boston Todd, DL Jordan Kovacs
Season Prediction: 10-0
Martinsburg went 14-0 a season ago and we see them making another undefeated run this fall behind a new cast of characters on offense.
Yes, Fagan is gone but the offense should enjoy some continuity with Dick at the controls. That’s not good news for opposing defenses as the Bulldogs’ should be humming in the early going of the campaign. A strong opening outing against Camden (N.J.) should be the tone-setter for Martinsburg.

The gap between these two teams last season was fairly small as the Bulldogs only won by a combined 12 points in two meetings.
Nov. 7 – Hurricane (W.Va.) Redskins – W
