Connecticut high school football might not get as much fanfare as its counterparts from other states. However, they still have great teams across its six competitive classes. Here’s how Massey ranks the top 25 teams in The Constitution State entering the 2025 season.

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

1. Choate Rosemary Hall Wild Boars

The Wild Boars completed their second consecutive perfect season after defeating Brunswick School. They have lost only three games over the last four Connecticut high school football seasons and have an active 18-game winning streak. Likewise, they allowed only one opponent to score double digits.

Choate Rosemary Hall will compete to extend their undefeated run on September 13 against New Hampshire’s Phillips Exeter Academy in a battle of top-ranked teams in their respective states. Impressive performances from linebacker Tanner Raymond (Rutgers) and interior offense lineman Will Tellers could help the Wild Boars win.

2. Brunswick School Bruins

The Bruins finished the 2024 Connecticut high school football season with an 8-2 record, with their losses coming against Phillips Exeter Academy and Choate Rosemary Hall. Despite those defeats, their record is an improvement from their 5-4 mark in 2023. Interior offensive lineman Rowan Ahrens (Harvard) and the entire Brunswick School team will begin their season against Loomis Chaffee School on September 6.

3. St. Thomas More Chancellors

The Chancellors finished the 2024 Connecticut high school football season with a 6-3 record, with losses against Maryland’s St. Frances Academy, New Jersey’s Hun School, and Florida’s IMG Academy. They will have a rematch against St. Frances on October 10. Four-star edge rusher Alhassan Iddrissu (UCF), cornerback Terron Johnson, running back Malichi Greaves, and linebacker Christian King are the players to watch for St. Thomas More.

4. Avon Old Farms Beavers

The Beavers finished the 2024 Connecticut high school football season at 6-4, with losses to Hun School, Brunswick School, Choate Rosemary Hall School, and Phillips Exeter Academy. Avon Old Farms will have a rematch against Brunswick School on September 13 to start their 2025 campaign. Quarterback Matthew Baer, running back Kharon Craig, and offensive tackle Charlie Thom are some of their top players.

5. Cheshire Academy Cats

The Cats finished the 2024 Connecticut high school football season with a 5-4 record. They’re hoping for a better performance this year as they start their schedule against Taft School on September 12.
