Williston (Fla.) will join the long list of teams in the Sunshine State looking for new head coaches this off-season as Robby Pruitt will not be returning to the program, according to a statement made by the program on Tuesday afternoon.

The Red Devils’ football booster club Facebook page announced that Pruitt will be leaving the program after four seasons leading Williston. The following is the announcement by the booster club on Pruitt leaving the program for what looks to be another coaching position elsewhere.

We are sad to announce that Coach Pruitt and Coach Dukes are leaving. They have been given a new opportunity to continue their coaching careers. We appreciate their hard work and the strong values they have brought to our football program. We have already started a search committee to hire a new head coach. During this search, our program will remain stable. Coach Vaughn will serve as the Director of Football Operations. Adrian Weeks will be our Interim Head Coach. He will answer any questions or concerns from students, parents, and the community.

Pruitt this past 2025 season became the first high school football head coach ever to win 200 games in two separate states as he also logged over 200 victories in Georgia at Coffee and Warner Robins.

Pruitt, who has won 415 games in his career, is one of 49 football coaches to have ever won 400 or more games in prep gridiron history. In his legendary coaching career, Pruitt has had coaching stops at Williston, University Christian (Fla.), Union County (Fla.), Fitzgerald (Ga.), Warner Robins (Ga.) and Coffee (Ga.), respectively.

This past season at Williston, Pruitt led the Red Devils to a 10-2 record, reaching the Rural region final round before losing to eventual state champion Hawthorne, 30-8.
