Senior quarterback Leon Strawder, who quarterbacked Miami Northwestern to last year’s Florida high school football Class 3A state championship, is leaving the Bulls program and transferring to No. 21 American Heritage (Fla.). Strawder and his representation, Control Of The Market, confirmed the news to Rivals on Thursday afternoon.

Strawder joins a quarterback depth room at American Heritage that includes five-star Texas commit Dia Bell. This move will only add to the ongoing speculation about Bell’s availability, as there have been some reports on social media that he is expected to miss time due to injury.

The Patriots are 1-1 on the season, beating St. Joseph’s Prep School in their opener and losing to Florida high school football foe Chaminade-Madonna Prep last week. The team is slated to take on No. 25 Edna Karr (La.) tomorrow night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

The expectation is that Strawder will be able to play as early next week for American Heritage’s game against Miami Central. He completed 168 of 256 passes for 2,677 yards and 41 touchdowns for Northwestern last season.

Northwestern brought in its own transfer quarterback, albeit during the offseason, in sophomore Neimann Lawrence. The 2028 prospect helped lead Ransom Everglades to a 6-4 finish as a freshman, throwing for 2,851 yards and 31 touchdowns in his first varsity season. Strawder and Lawrence had been splitting time this season for the Bulls.
