After another week of Tennessee high school football action, Baylor School remains the state’s top team. Conversely, Upperman completes the top 25 list. Which teams are between them according to Massey? Read through to find out.

The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

1. Baylor School Red Raiders

The Red Raiders started the 2025 Tennessee high school football season with three consecutive victories, the latest of which was a 42-30 outcome over Lift for Life Academy. Baylor School scored 28 unanswered points to put the game out of the Hawks’ reach. Next on their schedule is a September 19 game against Christ Presbyterian Academy.

2. Oakland Patriots

The reigning Division 1 Class 6A state champions are off to a strong start. Oakland improved to 4-0 after a 38-6 victory over Pearl-Cohn. Kam Morton passed for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Donte Cameron completed one passing TD and rushed for another. On defense, the Patriots had ten tackles for losses, including 2.5 sacks from Traivon Jackson. Oakland can earn their 11th consecutive victory by getting a favorable result against Siegel on September 19.

3. McCallie School Blue Tornados

The Blue Tornados are still among Tennessee’s top teams despite their 20-10 loss to Ensworth. After all, they’ve convincingly won their first three games. However, a tough challenge awaits McCallie School as they will face Mission Viejo, one of California’s top high school football teams, on September 19.

4. Ravenwood Raptors

The Raptors’ 50-0 shutout of Summit improved their record to 4-0 early in the 2025 Tennessee high school football season. In that game, Ravenwood scored 43 first-half points, putting the game out of reach for the Spartans. The Raptors have won 17 of their last 18 games heading into their September 19 road game against Franklin.

5. Battle Ground Academy Wildcats

The Wildcats have been impressive through their first four games. In their 62-28 victory over Greenwich Country Day, Kaedyn Marable had 17 completions for 324 passing yards and six touchdowns. Maddox Porter finished with 103 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Max Curry added 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Battle Ground Academy will continue its schedule with a road game against Franklin Road Academy on September 26.

6. Alcoa Tornadoes

The reigning Division 1 Class 3A state champions are now at 4-0 after a 35-0 shutout of Knoxville West. Condis Cherry had 156 rushing yards and one touchdown, while Thomas Manu threw for two touchdowns. Alcoa is on a 17-game winning streak, which they can extend by beating Union County on September 19.

7. Ensworth Tigers

The Tigers are among the top ten teams in Tennessee high school football after defeating McCallie School 20-10. Taylor Hasselbeck scored on a 30-yard rushing touchdown to settle the final score. Ensworth will be playing its fourth consecutive road game, this time against Lipscomb Academy on September 19.

8. Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish

The Fighting Irish are coming off a 41-20 win over Lipscomb Academy, which improved their record to 3-0. More importantly, Knoxville Catholic has already matched its win total from last season. Quarterback Mack Bartholomew threw for 186 yards, rushed for 61, and scored three touchdowns. Matthew Rogers tallied 88 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Tennessee commit Tyreek King finished with 95 receiving yards and a TD. The Fighting Irish can exceed their win total from last season by defeating Montgomery Bell Academy on September 19.

9. Maryville Rebels

The Rebels have won three in a row after a 44-7 beatdown of Cleveland. Like last year, Maryville started the season at 3-1, and they are looking to add another victory against Farragut on September 19.

10. Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions

The Lions suffered their third loss in four games. However, in their 49-28 defeat against Archbishop Moeller, Jack VanOrman threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns, while Owen Cabell had 113 receiving yards and a TD.
