What has been rumored for a few days has now been confirmed: American Heritage quarterback Dia Bell (Texas commit) is out for the remainder of the 2025 high school football season.

According to an Instagram post by the five-star senior quarterback, Bell is out for the rest of the season due to a minor procedure. The Texas commit did not disclose if this was due to an injury or not in his announcement.

Here is the announcement from Bell below:

These last 5 years have been more than I could have ever imagined. Every moment spent on a field with my brothers was a dream come true. I took none of them for granted! It was an honor and a privilege to work along side all of you. You are my brothers for life! Coaches, you stuck with me and believed in me when it wasn’t easy to do so. You poured into me, you taught me, and helped develop me. It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. Thank you! I consider you all family too. I am forever grateful for you all and for this incredible ride!

Unfortunately, that ride has come to an end. As many of you already know, I will not be playing for the rest of the 2025 season due to an unexpected, minor procedure that needs to be addressed. I am heartbroken and disappointed that I won’t be able to win another state championship with you all. I know that you guys will take care of business. Leon, welcome to the family! Do your thing, and lead these guys to another ring. As disappointing as the ending of this chapter is for me. I am even more excited about being 100% healthy and starting the next chapter in Austin! To my new family, my Longhorn family…see you all in January!

Bell was out in last week’s 24-17 overtime loss against No. 25 Edna Karr, the top high school football team in the state of Louisiana.

The senior signal caller finishes 2025 completing 43 of 68 passes for 540 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

The Texas commit is ranked No. 4 overall in the country and the No. 1 quarterback of the 2026 class. The senior signal caller was coming off a strong junior campaign that ended prematurely with an injury, with Bell throwing for 2,560 yards and 27 touchdowns.

American Heritage (1-2) will likely look to Miami Northwestern transfer Leon Strawder, who led the Bulls to Florida’s FHSAA Class 3A state championship last season, to lead the team the rest of the way. Strawder last fall threw for over 2,600 yards and 41 touchdowns as Miami Northwestern’s starting quarterback.
