Texas high school football is more than just a collection of teams and rivalries; it’s a showcase of talent, determination and community spirit. From the Llano Estacado to the Pineywoods and everything in-between, these state championship contenders are poised to claim glory in their respective classifications.

Class 6A Division I: North Crowley

There’s a new player on the Texas high school football block and they’re here to stay. The Panthers went 16-0 last season and blew out Westlake, 50-21, to win the classification last year. Maybe the only question mark about this North Crowley team is at quarterback, but we like this Panthers squad to pull off consecutive state championships in Texas’ toughest class.

Class 6A Division II: Southlake Carroll

There are not many teams in Texas high school football equipped to score with just about anyone like the Dragons. Orchestrating the offense once again is Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda and his favorite target is back in Ohio State pledge Brock Boyd, who hauled in 111 passes for 1,868 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2024. Southlake Carroll’s explosive offense will be too much for other contenders in the division, like Vandegrift and DeSoto, to handle.

Class 5A Division I: Aledo

There’s been some change over with the Bearcats, but in the end we don’t think that’ll impede Aledo from repeating as state champions once again. Last year’s starter Gavin Beard transferred to All Saints Episcopal, which opened the door for Nash McElree to emerge as the team’s QB1. Four-star wide receiver Kaydon Finley (Notre Dame commit) returns after totaling 1,432 yards and 21 scores last season.

Class 5A Division II: Randle

When you’re returning one of the top running backs in Texas high school football like the Lions are, winning another championship is well within reach. Landen Williams-Callis, a four-star running back, is back in the fold for Randle after leading the team’s ground game last year with 2,108 yards and 43 touchdowns. With that kind of production back behind a stout offensive line, Randle should make its way back to AT&T Stadium.

Class 4A Division I: Celina

The Bobcats won this Texas high school football classification handily with a 55-21 rout of Kilgore. Now heading into the 2025 season, Celina is looking to repeat as champions behind Oklahoma commit Bowe Bentley at quarterback. Bentley’s top target will be three-star 6-foot-5 tight end Wyatt Villarreal, who is committed to Pittsburgh.

Class 4A Division II: Carthage

There are not many teams in 4A-DII that can hold a candle to what Carthage has coming back, especially on the offense side of the football. Quarterback Jett Surratt returns for his senior season after leading the team to a 15-1 record last season. Surratt will have no shortage of playmakers around him, with four-star running back KJ Edwards (Texas A&M) and three-star wide receiver Keymian Henderson (Arkansas) both returning.

Class 3A Division I: Paradise

Paradise nearly upended Malakoff last season, falling 27-19 in the Texas high school football state semifinals. What’s led us to picking the Panthers here is how much experience they return on both sides of the ball. The team brings back their leading passer, rusher and pass catcher from a season ago, making this an offense that returns nearly intact.

Class 3A Division II: Wall

The Hawks fell to Gunter in the state semifinal round, 42-32, leaving the team wondering what could have been. Coming into this 2025 season, however, Wall returns several key contributors, including quarterback Landon York, who threw for 3,767 yards and 48 touchdowns.

Class 2A Division I: Ganado

Ganado was the classification’s state champion a year ago and we have them repeating this fall. The Indians did graduate quarterback Bryce Ullman, but sophomore signal caller Landyn Arriaga should keep the offense on pace. As a freshman last season, Arriaga threw for 446 yards and six touchdowns. Junior running back Logan Bures returns as well after rushing for 1,398 yards in 2024.

Class 2A Division II: Muenster

The Hornets ran the table last year and are the favorites to do so again behind one of the top Texas high school football quarterbacks in senior Casen Carney. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound signal caller was superb through the air and on the ground, compiling 4,762 yards and 66 total touchdowns in 2024. It would be a surprise if Muenster didn’t repeat as state champs.

Class 1A Six-Man Alignment

Division I: Gordon – The Longhorns averaged 57.8 points per game last season and will have the firepower to do so again this fall. We have little doubts that Gordon won’t go undefeated once more as they cruised to a 70-24 mercy-rule thrashing of Whiteface in the 2024 title game.

Division II: Jayton – Jayton went undefeated last season, going 15-0 and the Jaybirds are the odds-on favorites to do it again. Sophomore athlete Cash Chisum is back for a Jayton offense that averaged 64.7 points per game in 2024.
