Texas High School Football Rankings: Top 25 teams – Oct. 13

Another massive weekend of Texas high school football is in the books, and the top-25 rankings around the state are now up to date with those results.

After a huge win over Dallas-area rival DeSoto, Duncanville still remains undefeated and atop the list. Plenty of others are jockeying for position behind them, though.

Below are the top 25 teams in state, per the On3 Massey Ratings:

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Duncanville

Previous: No. 1

Duncanville passed its biggest test of the year with flying colors, rolling past DeSoto 42-20 on Friday to get revenge for last year’s loss. The Panthers’ offense is rolling behind five-stars Keelon Russell and Dakorien Moore, and it’s unlikely they’ll be tested again until the playoffs.

2. Atascocita

Previous: No. 2

The Eagles cruised to a dominant 53-3 win over Humble on Friday night to move to 6-0 and continue their early season roll. After a matchup with Kingwood this week, a huge showdown awaits with No. 3 North Shore on November 25.

3. North Shore

Previous: No. 3

North Shore hung 70 points on winless Goose Creek Memorial on Thursday, their first of two straight games against teams who have yet to win this season. After facing 0-6 Channelview next week, the Atascocita game looms large.

4. Southlake Carroll

Previous: No. 4

The Dragons’ offense continues to shred defenses, with Carroll now scoring at least 44 points in six of its seven wins this season. Much like Duncanville, they aren’t expected to be tested again in the regular season.

5. North Crowley

Previous: No. 5

North Crowley’s offense has been equally as impressive this fall, with the latest example a 66-7 win over Lake Ridge on Friday night. They are heavily favored in each of their final four games, per the On3 Massey Ratings, and should go into the playoffs 10-0.

6. DeSoto

Previous: No. 6

DeSoto suffered its second loss of the season against a loaded Duncanville team, but the Eagles still remain one of the nation’s best teams. They are heavily favored in each of their last four games before the playoffs begin next month.

7. Summer Creek

Previous: No. 12 (+5)

The Bulldogs responded to their first loss of the season — a 42-39 defeat to Atascocita — by demolishing C.E. King 53-7 on Friday night. Now sitting at 5-1, they’ll be heavily favored in their next three games before a massive November 8 showdown against North Shore.

8. Westlake

Previous: No. 7 (-1) 

Westlake rolled past city rival Austin 49-7 on Thursday and will be heavy favorites against a 5-2 Bowie squad again this coming weekend. The biggest remaining test on the regular season schedule looms in two weeks against undefeated and No. 12 Lake Travis.

9. Allen

Previous: No. 8 (-1) 

The Eagles put up an eye-popping 78 points in a win over Princeton on Friday night, and next Friday’s game against 0-7 Plano West will likely feature a similar lack of resistance. The next big game comes in two weeks when Allen hosts No. 18 Prosper in a key showdown ahead of the playoffs.

10. Coppell

Previous: No. 9 (-1) 

Coppell had no problem with winless Little Elm, cruising to a 59-14 win on Friday night. A sneaky challenging game awaits this week against 4-2 Lewisville, with the On3 Massey Ratings predicting a close two-point win for the Cowboys.
