Texas High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Nov. 23

The Texas high school football is fully entrenched in the UIL postseason as teams across the Lone Star State are looking to make deep playoff runs and reach AT&T Stadium come mid-December.

The Southlake Carroll Dragons remain the state’s No. 1 after completing a 10-0 regular season and look to be on their way to making a run at a ninth state championship as they have won two straight playoff games. So which other Lone Star State programs made a move up the most latest set of Top 25 rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Texas high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Nov. 23.

1. Southlake Carroll Dragons

Southlake Carroll finished going 10-0 this season as they romped Central, 72-7, in the second week of the postseason. The Dragons have been by far the most consistent team in Texas high school football season and every week on the field, the validate that.

The Dragons (12-0) have out-scored their two playoff opponents by a combined score of 107-7. Riley Dodge’s bunch showed no signs of slowing down as they head into the third round of the Class 6A, Division II postseason.

With one of the top high-powered offenses in the country, Southlake Carroll looks to win a third straight playoff game when they take on No. 9 ranked Prosper.

2. Allen Eagles

The five-time UIL state champion Allen Eagles (12-0) barely got away to start the Class 6A, Division I playoffs when they just edged out No. 25 ranked Lewisville, 22-15 in the opening round. Last week, however, the Eagles had a much easier time when they rolled past Lake Highlands in a 41-7 rout.

The Eagles dominated their first nine games as they opened with a 46-13 victory over Midland Legacy, breezed by Cedar Hill, 38-0 and then thumped Rock Hill in a 70-14 rout before cruising past Plano in a 55-0 romp. Allen then rolled to a 62-14 victory over Princeton before thrashing Plano West, 55-7, and McKinney Boyd.

Senior quarterback Jeremiah Daoud has been playing very well behind center, throwing for 2,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and just three interceptions this season.

3. Aledo Bearcats

The Aledo Bearcats (11-0) have been dominant over the last five games, beating Azle, Denton, Granbury, Richland, Tascosa and Saginaw by a combined score of 403-22.

Despite last year’s starter Gavin Beard transferring to All Saints Episcopal, which opened the door for Nash McElree to emerge as the team’s QB1, and the Bearcats have looked just fine in the second half of play.

Aledo has simply taken care of business week after week, starting against a solid Lancaster squad, coming away with the 18-0 win then dispatching Brewer, 54-7, as they’ve rolled their way to an undefeated regular season and now winning two playoff games. Next up is a meeting with Arlington Heights in the Class 5A, Division I playoffs.

4. Duncanville Panthers

Duncanville (9-1) showed no signs of slowing down in last week’s Class 6A, Division I playoffs as they rolled to a 43-6 victory over Rockwall-Heath. Next up for the Panthers is a matchup against Klein Collins (11-1).

Duncanville continues to be considered a state title contender in the UIL’s Class 6A, Division I classification. Other key players this fall to watch for from the Panthers are four-star edge rushers Kevin Ford (Florida commit) and Landon Barnes (Ole Miss commit), wide receiver Trenton Yancey and cornerback Braylon Edwards (SMU commit).

Panthers have one of the top wide receiving corps in Texas’ Class 6A, Division I playoffs, led by the talents of four-star junior Trenton Yancey, who leads the team with 43 grabs for 683 yards this season.

5. North Crowley Panthers

North Crowley (11-1) continue to click on all cylinders, as they have out-scored their last five opponents by a combined 341-88. The Panthers are winners of eight consecutive games after a 63-17 win over Midland Legacy last week and this week take on No. 19 ranked Coppell.

What head coach Ray Gates and his staff have to figure out is how they will get the team refocused after losing for the first time since 2023. North Crowley still keeps its sights set on winning the UIL Class 6A, Division I state championship this fall.

The Panthers still feature what has to still be considered one of the more talented defensive secondaries in the Lone Star State, which includes players like Texas Tech commit Aaron Bradshaw, three-star safety Elijajuan Houston, four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse and Colorado State commit Thomas Cook.
