Texas High School Football Top 25 Rankings - Sept. 7

The Texas high school football season continued into its second week of play and there was plenty of surprises, blowouts and close calls.
Top ranked Duncanville held off an upset-minded South Oak Cliff squad while North Crowley outlasted DeSoto in a weather delay-filled contest. So which teams got to take advantage and move up the ranks?
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
Here is the latest Texas high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey.
1. Duncanville Panthers
Duncanville (1-0) was finally able to get on the field in Week 2 against a South Oak Cliff squad that upset North Shore the previous week.
The Panthers were able to stave off the Golden Bears in a 35-28 victory, with quarterback Maximus Denson debuting and totaling 242 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.
Duncanville continues to be considered a state title contender in the UIL’s Class 6A, Division I classification. Other key players this fall to watch for from the Panthers are four-star edge rushers Kevin Ford (Florida commit) and Landon Barnes (Ole Miss commit), wide receiver Trenton Yancey and cornerback Braylon Edwards (SMU commit).
2. North Crowley Panthers
North Crowley (2-0) had to overcome a 2-hour plus weather delay to come away with the 36-27 victory over DeSoto, sending the Eagles to their first 0-2 start since 2015.
What head coach Ray Gates and his staff found out of the game was potentially their starting quarterback for the rest of the season in Demarcus Harris, who provided a spark for the Panthers in the win.
The Panthers features what is one of the most talented defensive secondaries in the Lone Star State, which includes players like Texas Tech commit Aaron Bradshaw, three-star safety Elijajuan Houston, four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse and Colorado State commit Thomas Cook.
3. Southlake Carroll Dragons
The first couple of weeks for Southlake Carroll tells folks anything, it is that the Dragons are a team that won’t look much different compared to last season whatsoever
The Dragons (2-0) started the season off with a bang when they cruised to a 49-0 rout of Midland and followed it up with a 35-7 thrashing of Hebron.
Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda and his favorite target, Ohio State pledge Brock Boyd, who hauled in 111 passes for 1,868 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2024, remain the state’s top quarterback-wide receiver tandem. Renda through two outings has thrown for 597 yards and five touchdowns.
4. Aledo Bearcats
Despite last year’s starter Gavin Beard transferring to All Saints Episcopal, which opened the door for Nash McElree to emerge as the team’s QB1, and the Aledo Bearcats (2-0) have looked just fine in the first couple of weeks.
McElree hasn’t had to do much as the team has leaned on their ground game, which rushed for over 200 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in Week 1. Aledo took care of business against a solid Lancaster squad, coming away with the 18-0 win.
Up next for Aledo is a home date with Brewer on Friday.
5. Allen Eagles
The five-time UIL state champion Allen Eagles (2-0) have been dominant through two games as they opened with a 46-13 victory over Midland Legacy and then breezed by Cedar Hill, 38-0.
Allen will be heavily favored in the coming weeks until a October meeting with No. 6 Prosper.
The Eagles saw the Week 1 debut of freshman quarterback Ty Snell with the team after the passer transferred from Lipscomb Academy during the offseason. Snell completed 9 of 11 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown in the win over Midland Legacy.
6. Prosper Eagles
The Eagles (2-0) began the season off with an impressive victory over Westlake in a 29-22 decision and last week upended Rockwall-Heath, 45-27. Prosper will lean on an experienced offensive line to lead them to victory week in and week out.
Up front, the team features a trio of future FBS commitments in four-stars Bryce Gilmore (Arkansas), Zaden Krempin (Texas A&M), Sean Stover (Duke) and 6-foot-4, 285-pound junior Will Endicott.
Prosper has a bye week before they return to the field on Sep. 19 when they face McKinney Boyd.
7. Summer Creek Bulldogs
Summer Creek (2-0) needed every minute of their opener to edge past Shadow Creek in a 37-32 shootout victory, but saw a polar opposite result this past week, a 58-14 win over Lamar.

Play behind center has been strong for Summer Creek as Noah Spinks has been impressive, completing 36 of 55 passes for 432 yards and six touchdowns.
Summer Creek will lean on a pair of talented FBS defensive recruits as they look to start 2-0, behind SMU commit Amontre Harris and Texas State pledge Marrel Davis.
8. Longview Lobos
Not many teams have ran the ball quite like the Longview Lobos (2-0) did to start the 2025 season.
Through the first two weeks of the season, the Lobos have attempted 83 rushes for 397 yards and scored seven touchdowns. Junior quarterback Johnny Hamilton has been solid for Longview and completing 23 of 39 passes for 254 yards and a touchdown.
Longview now goes on the road to face a very good South Oak Cliff team in Week 3 play.
9. Carthage Bulldogs
Carthage (2-0) made a statement back in Week 1 with a 21-10 win over Kilgore and remain the favorite to win Texas high school football’s Class 4A Div. II classification.
Quarterback Jett Surratt returns for his senior season after leading the team to a 15-1 record last season. Surratt has no shortage of playmakers around him, with four-star running back KJ Edwards (Texas A&M) and three-star wide receiver Keymian Henderson (Arkansas) both returning.
10. Atascocita Eagles
There’s no worrying about one thing with Atascocita (2-0) through the first couple of weeks: The Eagles can score the football in bunches.
Through the first two weeks of the season the Eagles are averaging 50 points per game after facing Lamar and Katy. As the season progresses, can Atascocita keep up its sizzling scoring pace they’re currently on?
Up next for the Eagles is a home meeting against Westlake.
