High school football in the Beehive State is already four weeks deep and top contenders have emerged. The Massey Ratings have once again updated, with a usual suspect still at the top.

Corner Canyon once again looks tough to dethrone and the Chargers are now 4-0. Later this month, they’ll play the other top-three teams in the state: Lone Peak and Skyridge.

A few ranked matchups are on deck this week. Below are the top 25 teams in Utah heading into week five of the season, according to the Massey Ratings.

1. Corner Canyon Chargers (4-0)

The clear-cut No. 1 team in Utah once again, Corner Canyon has dominated and now has two out-of-state wins under its belt after bulldozing Liberty, the No. 2 team in Arizona, by 31 points. Star senior quarterback and Texas A&M commit Helaman Casuga tallied 350 yards and five touchdowns in the win. He’s already thrown for over 1,000 yards this year.

The Chargers have defeated Liberty, West Broward in Florida, and Fremont, another top-10 team in Utah. The offense is averaging over 48 points per game and looks essentially unstoppable thus far. No. 24 Brighton heads to Draper this week and will look for what would be a monumental upset. The Massey Ratings predict a 46-7 win for Corner Canyon.

2. Skyridge Falcons (4-0)

While Corner Canyon rightfully sits atop the rankings, Skyridge has also boasted an offense that’s worthy of the top spot. The Falcons are now also 4-0 after rolling Highland (Idaho) 70-6 last week.

Senior QB Kaneal Sweetwyne, one of the top uncommitted passers in the nation, has led the impressive attack and is coming off an electric performance that featured nearly 400 total yards and six touchdowns in one half. Skyridge has allowed just 6 points across its last two games, too. Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Colorado to take on Cherry Creek, the No. 1 team in the state.

3. Lone Peak Knights (3-1)

Lone Peak took on national powerhouse Bishop Gorman (Nev.) over the weekend, and while the Knights were trending toward defeat, it came a little earlier than expected. Rivals’ Andy Villamarzo explained the situation on Sunday:

“The game was called prematurely due to a Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) rule, Nev. Admin. Code § 385B.824. The NIAA rule says if three or more players leave your sideline that your team therefor forfeits the game to the opposing team.

In the Knights’ case, there were deemed having three or more players having left their bench area, leaving game officials no choice but to award the win early in the third quarter to the Gaels, with the score at 35-14.”

Lone Peak got off to a nice 3-0 start, picking up authoritative top-25 wins over Crimson Cliffs, Orem and Timpview. It now heads to No. 17 Farmington this week.

4. American Fork Cavemen (4-0)

While not as impressive as others, American Fork is also undefeated at 4-0. The Cavemen have won the first two games of a three-game road trip, picking up one-score wins over Salt Lake City West and Farmington.

American Fork has continued its quarterback tandem as senior Kapono Manuela and junior Nate Childs share reps. In the 24-22 win over Farmington, four different Cavemen caught three or four passes. Senior Prince Afu also rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns. They head to Layton this Friday.

5. Lehi Pioneers (3-1)

Through four games, Lehi has allowed just 23 total points. It has two shutouts to its name already and is now 3-1 after a smooth 42-14 win over Desert Hills last week. Quarterback Cash Hollingshead has his best performance yet, hurling for five TDs in the win.

The Pioneers’ lone loss saw it muster just one score in a 9-7 loss to Mountain Ridge. They’ll now take on top-25 competition the rest of the way, beginning with a home matchup against No. 22 Weber this week.

6. Ridgeline Riverhawks (4-0)
7. Davis Darts (3-1)
8. Herriman Mustangs (4-0)
9. Mountain Ridge Sentinels (2-2)
10. Fremont Wolves (3-1)

11. Syracuse Titans (3-1)
12. West Panthers (3-1)
13. Orem Tigers (2-2)
14. Westlake Thunder (4-0)
15. Morgan Trojans (3-1)

16. Timpview Thunderbirds (1-3)
17. Farmington Phoenix (2-2)
18. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs (3-1)
19. Springville Red Devils (3-1)
20. Riverton Silverwolves (2-2)

21. Bountiful Redhawks (1-3)
22. Weber Warriors (2-2)
23. Alta Hawks (2-2)
24. Brighton Bengals (1-3)
25. Box Elder Bees (3-0)
