Virginia high school football playoff game under investigation due to chain gang controversy

The result of a Virginia high school football game is in question after the men who measured downs and distances or chain gangs were allegedly wearing electronic devices.
As WUSA9’s John Doran reported, the playoff game between Battlefield and Forest Park is under investigation because chain gangs are not allowed to have any communication devices. Volunteer or paid, they must perform their duties without interference.
In another report from FOX5 DC, a parent of a Forest Park player narrated that there were Battlefield people on the visiting team’s side who were allegedly relaying their plays.
The volunteers were dismissed after it was found out that they broke protocol. Meanwhile, the principals of both schools, namely Richard Martinez and Delores Lucas, released a statement to address the matter. An excerpt of the message reads:

“This incident was reported to the Prince William County Public Schools Student Activities Management Department, who immediately initiated an investigation. The results of this investigation will be forwarded to the Virginia High School League, who will assist in determining if penalties are warranted.”
The result of the investigation will be sent to the Virginia High School League. The governing body for Virginia high school football will bestow necessary punishment based on the findings. Until then, Battlefield will advance to the Class 6 regional quarterfinals after their 27-16 victory. The Bobcats, ranked 16th in the state’s latest Massey Ratings, will face North Stafford in the regional semifinals on November 21.
