Virginia High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Nov. 18

While there are no changes in the top five of the Virginia high school football rankings, three teams entered the tail end of the list. Here’s how Massey ranked the state’s best squads as the playoffs unfold.
The Massey Ratings system, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
1. The St. James Academy Strivers
Winning eight of nine games in their first season is impressive. While they lost their 2025 season finale against St. Frances Academy, St. James Academy showed that they are an emerging force in Virginia high school football.
2. Maury Commodores
The Commodores’ dominance continues after a 64-6 victory over Woodside in the Class 5 regional quarterfinals. Maury will carry a ten-game winning streak when they face Warwick in the regional semifinals on November 21.
3. Riverbend Bears
The Bears earned a first-round bye in the Virginia high school football Class 5 playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 10-0 record. Riverbend will start the postseason against Potomac Falls on November 21.
4. Benedictine Cadets
The Cadets avenged their loss to Trinity Episcopal by defeating the Titans in the VISAA Division 1 finals. Benedictine earned a shutout 20-0 victory by scoring all their points in the first half. This win closes the Cadets’ record this season at 11-1.
