Way-Too-Early Oklahoma High School Football Top 25 Rankings

Oklahoma high school football doesn’t occupy a place in pop culture like Friday Night Lights in Texas or produce NFL talent like Florida and Georgia, but the passion for the sport burns just as bright in the Sooner State. From powerhouse programs with a history of success to emerging contenders hungry for glory, here are the state’s top 25 teams heading into the 2025 season, according to Massey.
The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.
1. Bixby Spartans
The Spartans opened the 2024 Oklahoma high school football season with a loss to Owasso. However, they got their revenge via a one-point victory over the Rams to capture their tenth Class 6A-I state championship in the last 11 years and seventh consecutive title since 2018.
Bixby hopes to maintain this dominance in the 2025 season, starting with their rematch against Owasso on August 29. The Spartans possess power in their offensive line, thanks to four-star prospect Kaeden Penny and Jacob Hamlin. Meanwhile, their solid defensive unit features cornerback Braeden Presley, safety Emory Snyder, defensive lineman Connor Arant, and linebackers Cord Nolan and Trey McGlothlin.
2. Jenks Trojans
The Trojans bounced back from a 1-3 start by winning their next seven games. However, their season ended with a 30-27 loss to Owasso in the Class 6A-I state semifinals, giving Jenks an 8-4 finish.
The Trojans will have a September 5 rematch against the team that eliminated them. Getting fantastic performances from running back Kaydin Jones, wide receiver Malakai Dillard, offensive tackle Odaefe Oruru, interior lineman Ryley Kester, safety Kailib Dillard, and defensive back Ace Gilliam will help them claim victory over the Rams.
3. Owasso Rams
If not for Cooper Parker’s two-point conversion in overtime, the Rams would have ended Bixby’s dominance in Class 6A-I. They could have won an Oklahoma high school football state championship while completing an undefeated season.
Instead, it’s back to the drawing board for Owasso in 2025 as they hope to win it all this time. Their season starts with a state championship game rematch against the Spartans on August 29. For the Rams to win that game, they will need maximum effort from quarterback Drew Frankenfield, wide receiver Takhari Bethel, defensive lineman Tajh Overton, safety Carter Langenderfer, offensive lineman Brooks Barron, and wideout Julius Wilson.
4. Union Redhawks
While the Redhawks started the 2024 season winning seven of their first nine games, they lost two of their last three, including their Class 6A-I quarterfinal matchup against Bixby. Union regressed to 8-4 after finishing the 2023 season at 11-2.
The Redhawks begin their 2025 campaign against Arkansas’ Bentonville on August 29. Union’s defense could give the Tigers a formidable challenge, thanks to leaders like safety Daijon Gaines, linebacker Cain Brackney, defensive lineman Terrance Evans, safety Ian Castellanos, cornerback Noah Gillespie, and edge rusher Rocky Bright.

5. Carl Albert Titans
The Titans cruised through the competition by going undefeated in 14 games and winning the Oklahoma high school football Class 5A state championship over Guthrie. They allowed only two opponents to score in double digits and completed eight shutout victories. Likewise, Carl Albert extended its winning streak to 39 games, dating back to the 2022 season.
Extending their streak and defending their title are part of the Titans’ 2025 checklist. To achieve those goals, they will need players like running back Delijah Matthews, linebacker Beau Davis, and offensive tackle Jax Wilkerson to lead their teammates to victory.
