Allar Discussion Thread

Not sure if you caught that segment, but the announcers said Knowles used to tell his corners and safeties not to stress if PSU’s wideouts got behind them because Drew would just sail the deep ball anyway. That’s hilarious, and honestly… painfully accurate.

I believe he said “would put too much air under it” Think a punt trajectory. Giving the DB’s time to recover. Still not great, but better than what you’re implying.

You’re right!! At first, I thought he said he was sailing them, but after rewatching, it he did say too much air. Those deep throws just look rough half the time it feels like he’s playing catch with the cornerback. I love the team, but man, it gives me flashbacks to some of our “legendary” QBs of the past… and not in a good way.

He absolutely struggles for a veteran. You’ll catch little glimpses of brilliance here and there, but they’re getting few and far between. That dream ball to Penia today for PSU though that was one of those rare gems.

For me, I see way more underthrows than the one you’re pointing out. Take today for example that deep ball to Ross was short. I’m pretty sure he had one to Hudson too, where Hudson basically had to play cornerback just to keep it from being picked.

And just so it’s clear I don’t dislike Allar. I just wish he’d start looking like the veteran QB running the show. Hopefully he flips the switch when we’re up against real competition, because so far he hasn’t exactly shined against the subpar ones. Still 3–0, but he’s got to show up in two weeks.

Worry when we get to the game, yall are taking the joy out of winning. Drew threw a dart today, Drew balled last time against Oregon. Regardless of what we say, he’s the starter, he’s on the field during the whiteout, let’s try to enjoy it and be hopeful. A top 5 team in a whiteout. We win that the national media might implode

I’m definitely enjoying this season.

We barely ever took shots downfield last year that weren’t to Warren so I’m cool with him misfiring on a few

Oregon looked awfully human earlier today against a bad NW team. We’re gonna beat them

It seems like Allar has developed a bit of a “patting the ball” tick before throwing the ball. Has anyone noticed it over the past few games? Felt like it happened a lot out there today. I don’t remember him doing this last year or before that.

In my opinion this is the most overated "tick" of a qb it doesnt matter if he does it but has the arm to fit it into tight windows...much like the shit with kenny picket...dont care about how big his hands are if he can throw the ball in the snow(kenny's problem was not his ability in the snow but so so many other issues)

he,s not perfect but my question for everyone is can they name a qb (especially in college who is) because none of them are...I may regret this but can anyone name a college qb who has been perfect in the past decade?

Here's the problem. Earlier in the same game he passed up a wide open Omari Evans. Vs Oregon or OSU he may not get a 2nd chance. Image [HEADING=2]January 19, 2025[/HEADING] 219 views

We were talking about that in our section. He just doesn't look comfortable, and I don't know why. Fortunately he has some guys picking him up, but we did notice that. He makes some throws that not many QB's can ever make, and then he makes horrible choices at times and forces balls to covered guys when he has others wide open. It is just perplexing to me that after 4 years with the program, and 3 years as a starter that he still has these inconsistencies. Kaytron looks so good right now, but it seems like they are trying to get Nick and Drew going, but that has not yet really panned out. At this point, I have no idea how it will end up 2 weeks from now, other than I will have no voice from screaming in a rocking white-out night game.

Extremely mediocre today. Just not consistent. Not sure what people expect at this point.

Not being a hater just being honest. I've been saying for the past 3 yrs Allar just doesn't have "it." I don't care we beat up on a crap team. Do we look sharp enough on offense to beat Oregon or OSU? Does Drew look improved from last season vs 3 garbage teams? I told everyone the WRs were not as big of a problem last season as people thought, because of course they were the scapegoat when Drew played poorly. Well guess who leads the nation in receiving yards....Harrison Wallace. Game 1 vs GA State: 5 rec - 130 yds - 1 TD Game 2 vs Kentucky: 4 rec - 117 yds Game 3 vs Arkansas: 6 rec - 92 yds - 1TD....with backup QB starting. We've had an issue for 4 years now getting the ball downfield. They tried today but still couldn't. Drew's biggest problem is he constantly hesitates when he has man open down field. It happens 3-4 times a game. Between his lack of ability to get the ball downfield and Nick wanting to run into brick walls instead of avoiding them is a huge issue if we ever want to win the Natty. This play where he had Hudson open but hesitated happens way to often with Drew. and people don't realize it. Image [HEADING=2]Drews hesitation issues continue[/HEADING]

Just seems like the more carries K.Allen gets the better he gets. Oregon is going to Stack the Box. They are going to Force Drew to beat them. In the past K. Allen was able to bring them out of this defense by the Power he runs with. Guess we’ll see if AK and Franklin makes some adjustments during the Buy week. Singletons speed will be easy for Oregon to match.

Aside from Drew not looking good at all, we also have an OC who does not fit his play style at all. Which is why I think Beau was a better fit for offense. But you'd think our OC could adapt to match Drew's play style. Maybe they should just run the two-minute drill the whole game...

If you watch every QB does a quick pat of the ball before they release. Allar patting the ball probably stands out more because he's indecisive. See's a guy breaking open..."should I throw...eh..eh..eh" he pats the ball wanting to throw then double clutches and doesn't release it. He's done it past 3 yrs. Just like play below, he had an easy TD to a wide open Hudson over the middle but for some reason has a mental block of simply getting the ball out when he see's the WR open. Yeah but still no excuse to not throw to open WRs. It was the same thing with Yurcich.
