A few days ago, the Boosters sent out their annual email to solicit renewals for 2026. I was not amused at the timing.
In the past few years, current leadership concentrated heavily on increasing the number of Big Money Boosters, whether through creating more expensive upper tier Boosters classifications or the Bowden Society. The renovation of Doak - that the vast majority of season ticket holders actually wanted - was heavily skewed to benefit the small group of the upper tier boosters. To the season ticket holding middle class, that wasn’t what they were asking for. And to sell out season tickets, Leadership is dependent on the middle class sticking around and remaining engaged. Lose the middle class, and future growth gets limited. With about 7000 fewer “real” seats in Doak for the 2025 season, the Boosters could not sell out season tickets this year, even though Alabama was making its first trip to Doak. The reviews of the renovation have been very positive, but you have to actually buy a game ticket to see it.
FSU did not need 2025 to be a rebuilding season. With finances being the way they are, and with the upper tier Boosters starting to feel a bit tapped out, FSU needed a breakout year. The current season may not look as bad as 2024, but “not as bad” was not the goal.
What will be the sales pitch for 2026? That the season just got ”easier” because ND is not coming to Doak as planned?
Attention will turn from Norvell to Alford, because the fan base, as I see it, is exhausted with the discussion of what to do about Norvell. Well, at least I am. The support for going after Jimbo seems to be growing. How many breadcrumbs does Leadership need? (It would be amusing to see Alford try and control Jimbo. That alone might be worth it.). As far as the majority of the fans are concerned (based on non scientific research of multiple websites), the Norvell era has ended. He cannot be saved. Because if Norvell is retained, “it has been reported” that the big money Boosters are not interested in financing Norvell 3.0. But - they don’t want to buy him out either.
Tis a conundrum. But it’s a conundrum of the FSU Leadership’s making. I don’t care how difficult the situation is. Do your job.

If you know anything about Alford, he is all about "appearances."
Two weeks ago, he said -- to the dismay of many -- that the football program would be evaluated at the end of the year.
Since then, we beat Wake quite handily, and then got embarrassed at Clemson. Not embarrassed on the scoreboard, so much, but just in the obviously sloppy and disjointed play we all saw. The team was not ready to compete despite the enormity of the game (at least from Norvell's standpoint).
Was last night's toe-stub enough for Alford to now rescind his original statement about a "year-end evaluation"?? What explanation would he offer?? Rest assured "that" is of critical importance to Alford.
I don't see how he CAN'T fire Norvell immediately. Whether he does remains to be seen.

The President could always stall making a move so long as both are true, but keeping Norvell and not investing more in football is not going to work.It is not Alford final decision. I don’t think Alford needs to go. Norvell was not his hire. Showing Norvell the door is a must. Alford has made good hires thus far in the other sports, so I feel like he could do well in hiring the next football coach. That said, the mandate would have to be “get this hire right, or get out.”

If norvell is untouchable because of his buyout then you must fire those who signed off on his deal. Something has to give here. Our problem is not going to be fixed with the same coaches and administration going forward.

I’m guessing it is because of the extension he gave Norvell, but at the time, fresh off a 19 game win streak, with one of the premier programs of all time in Bama trying to hire him, we all would have revolted had we lost Mike to Bama. I see a lot of folks calling for Alford’s head on here, genuinely interested in seeing the points for and against this.Fire Alford needs to be priority one !

They have really ticked off a lot of Silver Chiefs and Golden Chiefs with the parking situation.
It also still takes 30 minutes of waiting in line to get into the stadium because they hire about half the number of entry gate people.

I’ve been very happy with Alford’s hires.
We did very well in the lawsuit with the ACC.
I’ve always believed we need more boosters at the lower levels and we lose them when we offer them less. Kind of feels like the Silver Chiefs are feeling the pain that already eliminated many Warriors and Tomahawks.
The lack of transparency about realignment and the recent discovery that the home game with Notre Dame has been off the table for years hints at the same kind of arrogance that lost us so many season ticket holders and boosters at the end of the Fisher era.
I hope Alford didn’t really say that the Notre Dame game next year was just an internet myth. That sounds similar to when they told us we made the same amount of money playing home game with Savannah State as we did with Oklahoma.
Thanks for checking out this free message board preview.
