Are there posters/members here who are actually better at coaching than our actual coaches?

This is a serious question. There are posters who say what our coaches should and should not do. Do they really know better than our coaches or do they only think they know better than our coaches? Hoping for serious responses.

No. They’d be coaching FBS ball instead of posting on a message board if so. Unless we have a bunch of posters undercover who do, then it’s safe to say the answer is no.

Not that I think there’s posters that are better than our coaches, but coaching high D1 is a tough profession to crack into if you aren’t a former player or have connections.

I'm way better...I just choose not to make $8+ million a year. It's because I wouldn't be able to post on this board if I had to also recruit in my free time (and I would easily land a top 5 class every year). My decision is quality of life based.

When choosing a brain surgeon, you evaluate your options against other possible brain surgeons and not against a random person on the street. The standard the coaches are held to by fans shouldn’t be whether they are better than a random person off the street, but are they better than their peers.

I'm sure there are a handful on the board who would be better coaches, but 99.9% of us are arm-chair coaches. I think most of the board's complaints are around the philosophy (run v pass, use of QB, etc), specific play calls, or maybe a position group or two that seems underdeveloped. I think it's fair to critique those things, but also realize that there is much more to coaching that a specific play call in a specific moment in the game - those are just the moments that are amlified in our minds when we evaluate the coaches.

I'm not better at forecasting the weather than the guy on Channel 4, but I can stand outside and tell you if it's raining or not I also know that it's not raining when someone is standing next to me pi$$ing on my leg

Are you asking if a group of uneducated, inexperienced fanatics with 20% of the necessary information to generate an informed opinion are “better” at coaching that those who have spent their entire lives working in this area and have complete access to all available information? I think the group of fanatics would defiantly say “yes” while the lifelong coaches would get back to work.

It doesn't matter if we tell the world our thoughts on how to use a big athletic QB. It does, however, matter that the HC is insistent on proclaiming to the world the reasons why he won't run his big athletic QB. It would be much better to leave it to the opponents to figure that out. Now maybe its a genius trap being laid by Coach Moore--I hope so, but currently it appears to be more politics than strategy.

Honestly, me. Note: I can also write theater better than Shakespeare, play guitar better than Hendrix, pleasure a woman better than Casanova, and (believe it or not) cook better than @Ellobo. Outcoaching these bozos is a piece of cake

If you have to literally be a D1 coach to critique/opine regarding D1 coaches, then that would end all pre-game shows, pod casts, message boards, etc. Do I think I know as much about football as our coaching staff? Of course not. Do I know enough to opine that Saturday night was an embarrassing abomination? Yes, I believe I do.

No. Think about this for a second, the most criticized unit on the team, by far, is the OL. Go look at the resume of Juan Castillo. Go look at the resume of Brett Ingals. Most of the loudest criticizers on this board couldn't successfully coach the OL of a high school team.

We live in a very narcissistic time on Earth and in humanity - so many fans think this, at some level. Obviously, no. Do I think some of us (who have extensive business, team building and leadership experience) could be good at certain aspects? Sure. But in short, no. Obviously not. These guys forget more about football in a day, than most of us will ever know.
