B1G football is a dreadful product compared to the sec

Yes some great teams but overall product it’s not close. B1g is fortunate with their tv deal because they are getting destroyed in the tv ratings. The big boys in the b1g are going have think long and hard about their future in the b1g unless some serious changes happen because the sec is gong soon dwarf the tv dollars. You can see why recruits find one league so much more appealing than the other too.

The Big has 2 elite teams but no depth. The SEC has much more.

That’s because the roles are now reversed. In the last 20 years it was the SEC that had 2-3 dominant teams and the rest were meh and the B1G had parody throughout, now it’s the opposite.

So the last 2 champions are from the B1G and OSU is a favorite again this year. So ...

Big ten is top heavy. SEC has more good teams. The SEC feels a lot like the nfl where any day anyone can beat anyone.

That just means the big ten had the best team that year. Not the better conference. In 2023 the big ten as a whole was awful.

Let’s wait to see the results of some of the SEC coaching changes. LSU, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Florida, and potentially Texas (although I doubt Sark leaves for the NFL) could all be open at once. We know all too well how hires can go sideways.

Some parity was achieved. The parody in this thing is that the BIG10 was always the big 3 of OSU then Michigan then PSU - and the rest was just meh, most years

Marketing and production- absolutely. I would also add the “passion of the fans”

Heard that last year too and they flopped in the playoffs.

Thats has nothing to with this, I am talking about the entertainment value of both leagues and it’s not close

They still have some advantages but it seems like NIL has really evened up the talent gap.

A $2.4B cash injection is what the B1G needs. /s

Check in with me in January. Let's see if the SEC can get a team into the CFP final for the first time in three seasons.

I am not arguing sec has the best team this year, I am saying their regular season product is waaay better than the b1g and it’s not close.

He’s not talking about the top end. Personally I think OSU and Indiana are better than anyone in the SEC. He’s talking about style, entertainment value, game day atmosphere and that stuff. It’s much better down here. Also, the SEC is deeper and teams like Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, UCLA, Illinois…a group of the current 2nd tier in the Big 10….probably wouldn’t win 3 games down in the SEC.

It's also where most of the best high school players are. That's mitigated with the transfer portal, but still a structural advantage.

Illinois beat a 9 win South Carolina team last year and it wasn’t close. Michigan without our best players beat a 9 win Alabama with all of their best players. You can say bowls don’t matter but the SEC would always flex their bowl record.

I lived in the heart of SEC country for several years and the game day experience and fandom is so much better than any other conference. Top to bottom, the entertainment value is off the charts.

I fear this could be headed towards college baseball where the sec just have an enormous advantage in recruiting. For those not aware the sec has pretty much killed off west coast baseball in the last 15ish years because all the recruits want to play there because it’s the best atmospheres, they care the most, invest the most etc.
