This was vaguely interesting.....
[QUOTE]
Heard at lunch from a friend of his, the offer has increased to $7mil. A bidding war between Miami and Tennessee, but Ty is still leaning towards the NFL Draft at the moment.

They would be so stupid to be okay with that if it were to happen

What I got out of that is that their fans are nicer and more respectful than ours.

Same as UGA last year, I think most of their fans are content with their shiny backup to take the reigns. Kind of the opposite perspective to our avg fan that thinks the portal is the only answer.

Hmmm sounds familiar….i recall a recent Miami transfer QB who’s previous school seemed to be okay with it….

Time to develop our recruits. I dislike the fact that every year a hyped up QB and their agents are going to continue to push the market price up for their mercenary player until it gets to a point where even our collective will be out priced. It just seems time to develop instead of buying a mercenary for one year. JMO

He is Beck 2.0
I live in the panhandle surrounded by Bama fans. The sane rationale ones will tell you he was great when he had time and the running game was working. If those breakdowns he falls apart. If Miami’s line does as good next year as they have this year he would be just fine here.

Beck 2.0 could put us back in the playoffs…

Isn't the most popular guy always the 2nd string QB? Of course they'd be cool with him coming to Miami.

Beck 1.0 has us playing for a Natty.
Ask the GA fans if they would take Beck over Gunner now?

They have some young hotshot that they want to take the reigns.

PH1LLY said:I'd sure be thrilled to get him....he'd be another great fit in our offense, kid is high character, very smart and accurate with the ball....he did well last year but struggled some against top defenses bc Bama had no running game. I think with our running game, combined with an excellent receiving group, he'd thrive here.No Sour grapes if he chose to leave NFL draft and transfer to Miami https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/if-ty-simpson-big-if-i-know-took-6-5-million-to-play-at-miami.8623642/

He needed a running game to win at Alabama, and they had none. He will thrive in this Offense.

I will say this. I think they should pay Simpson whatever he wants. HOWEVER...
Next year it's gotta be a home grown talent barring any odd circumstances.

Simpson is not as big and tall as Beck, and does not have the arm talent. He has good mobility - he is far less proven than Beck at this point.
I don't see any wow factor, and I think he's mostly a JAG, propped up by DeBoer and Bama talent. I don't see him as an elevator of teammates or even as effective of a game manager and distributer as Beck.
Hard pass on him. I'd rather save the NIL money and spend it on 2-3 other guys at other positions of need, and roll with Nickel.

Imagine Luke ain’t that dude ( which I think he will be ) , EW and Judd transfers , then we have Nickell and Coleman ….. one way or the other we have to find a portal QB for sheer #’s
this is worst case scenario BTW 🙄
