Can anyone ever remember a player here that hits as ferociously as Brandyn Hillman?…

I know he missed a key tackle yesterday but when he goes in for a tackle, he delivers a punishing blow. Peppers was a great tackler (except for one key missed tackle) but Hillman wants to take the head off an opponent seemingly every time he has a chance to (and he’s not an overly big kid). I wouldn’t want either Hillman or Barham coming at me on a football field.

Garland Rivers? Or Brad Cochran, if you prefer.

That’s the hardest hit I’ve ever seen and because it ended 2 player(s) football careers.

He hits, no doubt, he needs to wrap up though. That missed tackle was massive, and can’t happen. He is exposing the defense when he’s tasked to make that play and doesn’t get it done. Sometimes it seems like he would rather make a big hit than wrap up and make the sound tackle.

You’re 100% right. That whiff was a killer. Led to seven, right?

The answer is Earnest Shazor. I was beyond disappointed when he left after his Junior year to get drafted late in the draft to the pre- Kurt Warner Cardinals. Phoenix was as much a waste land as Detroit.

The missed sack was huge but he had multiple other missed tackles too. Disappointing performance

Shazor went undrafted.

A lot of recency bias as usual… Lamar Woodley, Shawn Crable off the top of my head.

That's great except the only time we needed him to make a tackle he whiffed

True but that was a much tougher tackle to make when I rewatched it. Hillman was full speed and Mateer made one subtle juke right when Hillman hit him. I know it was costly but there was also a blown coverage on that play as well.

I can think of roughly 100 guys that are better tacklers, which is what really matters. Hillman is boom or bust, and most of the time it's been bust.

I’m talking about hitting hard… And most of the time he’s been bust?

Agreed. Another guy I would add is Jonas Mouton. You could hear the pads thump loudly when he made a hit.

Correct. I don't think he's a good player.
