Change one play and Tennessee wins (through the years)

For me, it's not just losing a game but HOW you lose that can be sickening and create a long lasting bad memory. The Georgia game this year is a classic example of how changing one play (the missed kick) changes the result. I can think of several games going back 60 years where one play changes the result. (Yes, I know one play can change the game in the other direction too). So, if you could change one play in a Tennessee defeat that either wins the game or provides a 99% chance to win, in your opinion, what's the game and the play?

2001 SEC Championship Game, I would take back the hit that knocked Rohan Davey out of that game. Davey stays upright, LSU's offense sputters, we win comfortably and the legacies of Saban and that damn dentist Matt Mauck are altered forever

2015: 4th and 15 FLA 1989: Don't knock Murry Hill out of the Alabama game/ or someone get to Reggie Cobb during the week. 1990: Andy Kelly throws that ball a little higher on the final drive vs Notre Dame 1992: We make the two point conversion vs SCAR or ARK misses the field goal 2000: Gaffney non catch ruled a non catch.

The bad thing about some of these plays is that they would extend how long a coach was here. If Butch beats the gators, does he get another year?

I wouldn't have cared at the time.

Add in one play from 2001 LSU game and the Alabama block in 90.. That is the list though

I couldn't decide what to do in the LSU game. Stallworth catch the ball at the end of the half? Did he and Washington have drops there? I've never watched it since, so it's hard to recall. I have repressed the ALA block in 90. Yes, it deserves to be there. I was there in PP.

Likewise... Maybe Davey not getting hurt lol.. I am sure there was a missed tackle, catch, call or something that could've changed that game. 2001 LSU and 90 Alabama will haunt me until I die

4th & 3, 4th QTR, Florida. 1999. If we win that game does that team go on to play for another NC?

I feel like Stallworth had like 3 drops that were massive.

Same with 2001 LSU game, can’t bring myself to watch it. But if memory serves, two critical plays in that game - Donte Stallworth fumbled late in the game as we were driving, Julian Battle dropped a pick six.

If I can stomach it, I may watch the end of the half sequence just to get my memory in order. I felt like we had back to back deep balls that should have been caught.

Can I do a trifecta of Gilbert’s miss, The pick 6 vs Bama, and the sack fumble score vs OU?

UT doesn't fumble the ball in 1980 against uga in the season opener. Just take a knee and kick an easy extra point length fg. Also the game against Bama in 93'. Go all out on that two point conversion and key on Palmer.

I’d take back the play where Justin Hunter messed up his knee.

Anybody old enough to remember Dennis Chadwick fumble on the Auburn 14 where a fg puts us up two scores. Instead, Pat Sullivan drives Auburn 86 yards in last few minutes and we lose 10-9. Gut punch loss.

I was there and thought we were home free when Davey went out. Little did I know Matt Mauck and qb draws would create nightmares for years.

I was thinking of taking away the Arkansas punt return in that '92 game.
