Concerns About the UGA Game

Ok ladies and gents, tomorrow is the big game day! Nothing positive that we’ve done the past 2 games matters, only the negatives against FSU week one do. It’s a clean slate and we’re back to 0-1. I’ve had a a little over a week to mull over how I’m feeling on this game and get the boards vibes. Since there have been an overwhelming amount of “sunshine pumping” posts about why we will win and win big, I figured I would offer some counter points on where we are vulnerable that I haven’t seen yet. Without further a do:
  • Kirby is 1-6 against us, he is finally going to give his best effort to beat us. You know he doesn’t want to lose this one.
  • Road game woes. We are 2-4 in true road games (2-5 if you include our bowl game against Michigan). Now I know people like to point out we beat Wisconsin and LSU on the road last year, but those don’t really count so it’s really more like 0-5.
  • UGA is going to be upset College Gameday isn’t coming into town, instead we get C Tier SEC Nation. I’ll bet this really bothers UGA, it’s like a slap in the face saying this isn’t a marquee matchup, look for them to want to prove a point by beating us.
  • Stopping the run. It’s not secret that we have struggled with stopping the run. UGA likes to run the ball and with our poor D-Line play stopping the run is going to be an uphill battle
  • Getting our run game going. You can’t win football games in the SEC without having a big time smash mouth running game, West Coast personalities and offenses won’t cut it.
  • Wommack. Wommack vs Bobo is like the battle of the redheaded stepchildren. Could come down to who calls a worse game sine they both will more than likely be terrible.
  • The weather. With the weather forecast looking like we might get some sprinkles, we have to wonder if we will be ready. We haven’t played well in the rain recently and if it rains against UGA I’m nervous we might start slipping a lot.
Let me know if I missed anything.

Somehow I’ve seen people start saying we’re 2-6 in road games. Soon enough, we’ll have people claiming we’re like 1-10 in them lmao

So...stop the run and run the ball. The rest is just a dead dog on the side of the road.

uga has shown they can come back from 2tds down and win at UT ... that is big for a team. We started out 7-0 on FSU then got down to FSU by 7 and they took over ... Out team needs to play 60 minutes ....

With Keenan back, I think the run woes will not be a major problem unless Bama goes light with their front package and UGA notices that

Jawja 'aint FSU...and FSU won't be "FSU of Day 1" when we play them again. No one can replicate Gus in practice...you have to play them to learn. We did...we learned! We don't know who UcheaT is yet so I can't assess how good Jawja is. They've played two 'no bodies' and UcheaT...statistically and categorically we surpass them...our strengths are where there weaknesses are. We're good to pretty good where their strengths are...minus maybe one stat. All our road woes (minus FSU) are because we had Jalen (whom I love but very one dimensional)...limited passing...well...you know. Minus a missed UcheaT FG, Jawja would have our results YTD. I firmly believe we're going to go into Athens hit Jawja in their BAMA-insecurity and win 41-31. JMHO...

I don’t have anything constructive to add other than my peen is harder than Chinese arithmetic for this game to kick off. Hopefully I won’t need to seek medical attention beforehand.

1. I'm concerned we haven't been able to run the ball. 2. I'm concerned that we haven't done a good job of stopping the run. 3. I worry our secondary hasn't been tested since FSU, and even then, they didn't have to throw the ball that much because our run defense was so porous. 4. My backside puckers up at the thought of us having to win this game on the road. Our run of poor road game performances has been well documented. It's like this team feels snakebit whenever it goes on the road against a good team. Here's to hoping that this team grows up in Athens and starts correcting all these issues because I don't think I can handle a year of having to listen to dawg fans barking at me everywhere I go.
