DR and booing

For the second home game in a row, fans booing seemed to bother DR. I was at the Michigan game, I was not at the game yesterday. Not sure what it was like yesterday but I never noticed it much two weeks ago. Not enough to make an issue about it. I do like what Rhule told him. Fans invest a lot to go to games. They have the right to express themselves however they want. Dude’s getting paid a lot of money. If he wants to play in the NFL he better get thicker skin. NFL fans and media are an entire different animal than anything he will ever experience in Lincoln.

Our fans need conditioning about how a team can handle adversity. They haven't seen it for years. They don't know how to handle it now that Rhule's culture has instilled an ability to overcome deficits.

20+ plays if ineptitude deserves booing. You’re getting paid now, this was after a bye week. You don’t want us to boo play better. It’s how we show our displeasure with what is happening on the field.

Can’t stop dumb fans and they may be booing something else Players need to channel this into revenge against the opponent. At least we show up after years of suck. I like what Rhule told Dylan.

Honestly I always feel like most booing I hear is more directed at officials.

It was mainly coming from the students. Started there and others joined in.

Fans don't boo their team at home without reason. They had 37 total yards at half (if I remember correctly). What teams fans wouldn't boo? If they don't like it, needs to be used to play better, not yell at fans. Also, I think some of the booing was directed towards the officials at half.

Not sure I agree with your last sentence. The fish bowl of Lincoln is absolutely worse than the vast majority of the NFL cities.

I’ll take a passionate fan base over an empty stadium any day. With what this program has been the last 10 years it’s amazing that place is still full every week.

Bingo. This is 100% correct.

With the recruits they have been bringing in, it certainly doesn't help the cause when fans boo. And it's not like NU has been getting blown out when the boo birds start. NU's largest deficit has been what? 10 pts? I get not being happy with some of the play we've seen...but booing while the game is still in doubt and the Huskers still have a chance? Fans need to show a bit more support and patience, imo. If the game truly gets ugly and the score is out of hand, boo away. Until then, cheer and be loud. GBR!

Something to be said for unity of purpose across team, coaches, administration and fanbase.

Fair point. While my son and I weren't booing, we were certainly concerned about the way the game was going. Unfortunately I think it's just going to take games and time for the conditioning you mentioned. Also think it's great Rhule is the HC when this happens. I don't think he's going to coddle any players getting upset. Could see him challenging players with it- "they're not happy with the performance, I'm not happy either, are you?". Something like that.

They had a stretch where they had like 19 yards on 25 plays and had a 4th and 42….complete ineptitude is going to get the boo birds out…they need to toughen up…plus they are paid now and basically pros, we have many players making more money than a lot of folks in the stands… between the cringe Mahommes crap and whining about fans booing embarrassing play, Dylan comes off as a spoiled prima-Donna Rhule in his press conference pretty much said he needs to get a grip and keep his trap shut…

Some of the booing was due to the no call face mask. And im guessing that's what he noticed since it was a 3rd negative yard play of that drive? Thats the only time I heard it noticeably.

He needs to get over that. 4th and 42 deserves a couple boos

If I pay money to go to a game, it’s not just the price of a ticket. I likely will be bringing my wife or a parent or friend. I’m not paying $50 for a ticket, it’s $100. I’m likely paying $20+ for parking. If I want food or drinks that’s conservatively $40 for both of us. Let’s just say minimum I’m spending $160 to attend While I believe fans have a right to boo players now that they’re paid, I personally wouldn’t boo a player/players. But sandwiched between the blocked punt and the big play to Barney: Michigan State: 44 plays, 161 yards, 21 points Nebraska: 23 plays, 18 yards, 0 points Those drives included a -32 yard drive, an INT, 2 bad punts and a bad fake punt. Sorry, but that level of coaching from HC/OC deserves to be booed. Instead of extending a lead with 3 straight drives in MSU territory, Nebraska moved backwards 3 times. That’s entirely unacceptable. I don’t need Nebraska to play perfect, but when considering competition level that’s the worst 2 quarters Nebraska has played since probably 2022(?)

Lutovskys interview showed some resentment. I sense some “us against the world” mentality in the oline group. Dont think that’s healthy. Absolutely Love rhules response. An adult in charge.

Well, I said the play calling didn't help. He only had eight pass attempts in the first half You got the best quarterback arm in the country allegedly or close to it and you're afraid to throw balls into the wind. I said it in the Michigan game you've got to stop running so much on first down a 2 yard game puts you in obvious passing situations our line can't handle. We should be throwing at least 40 to 50% on first down that's unpredictable play calling. especially after a turnover, I'm so pissed off at running the ball in the middle of to get nothing after you just got a turnover. Take a strike down the field play action pass it deep on a down that they don't expect it like first down after a turnover, it's the perfect time. That crap's been going on for way too long even Osborne used to do it more than Soli or anybody cents besides maybe Callahan.

100% with regards to Rhule. He is a professional vs. Pelini’s f**k the fans attitude.

I’m not a fan of booing and have never done it myself but having said that, I understand it and what I don’t like is how much it bothers Dylan. This is now the second time where he’s become emotionally unnerved by it to where Rhule has had to tell him to calm down and not let it affect him. Dylan is now 20 yrs all and has started 18 games but yet his emotionally maturity IMO, is that of an 18 yr true freshman. His body language and the way he hangs his head and shuffles off the field when things are going bad, drives me nuts. I wish he had his dad’s mental makeup. I liked Mitch Sherman’s question last night to Rhule on this and Rhule tried to dance around it and nuance the answer (as I would expect so as not to throw Dylan under the buss in his answer) but it was obvious listening to him that it bugs him about Dylan.

Honestly I don't mind if they do have some resentment. I've seen individuals with a chip on their shoulder make it their mission to prove the naysayers wrong. If it works for you as an individual I say roll with it.

From the stands I feel most of the booing was at the officials
