For all the complaints about Kane Wommack

This is a team game but our defense played championship defense vs Tennessee. They scored 9 points, which means the offense just had to score 12 to win. Even last year, I thought we were an elite pass rusher away from a great team but looks like we’ve found that in Yhonzae Pierre. He’s not Dallas Turner or Will Anderson but he damn sure played like it Saturday. My other concern is still our LBs and Safeties against the big run but it’s not happening consistently. Hats off to the defense.

Tennessee is a brutal offense to stop. The wide spacing means you hesitate to play press man and will likely have at least one less defender capable of helping on inside runs. Tackling must be sound…Plus the pace they play with… only allowing 20 is just remarkable.

Yeah we don’t speed up quarterbacks and cause turnovers because of it. Good luck on saving America tho

What’s the main job of a defense? Keep the opponent from scoring. 3 weeks in a row, a top 5 scoring offense was held to a season-low total that was less than half of their avg ppg

We consistently affect the passer, we just don't finish and get a lot of sacks. Part of the reason it appears we don't is we keep going into that stupid prevent defense late in games and it let's them grab 40 to 50 yards easily until they run out of open space, then it looks like we changed defenses.

Gave up some yards, but there is a reason why I gave the defense an A- in the report card. I'm curious to see if any other team holds them to 20 or less this season. We'll find out in two weeks when they play the No. 1 defense in the country (OU).

Since you're looking at last year's results, I'd argue that Nico had just as much to do with TN's point total being under 20 as the OSU defense.

They averaged 35 PPG last season. They average 48 PPG this season. Not sure what your point is here.
