From a Spartan pro..

The guy has written books about Spartan athletics. He was high on Johnathan Smith. Great hire. Short of the Spartans winning out, he expects the school president and athletic director will be making a change. Both are aggressive- and will move aggressively. MSU has 13 billionaires among its cast of Spartan grads. Only two support MSU athletics. he expects the new AD will move on those not supporting MSU athletics. He will need something to sell. MSU puts MAC level talent on the football field. It will be darn near impossible to win out. Will Smith change QB’s? Chiles is a gifted athlete but has not yet developed into a Big Ten QB. And the clock is ticking.

Come on, MAC level talent? If that's the case, Smith should not be fired.

Win out? 3/4 does get us a bowl game. Did that scenario come up?

500,000+ alumni? As for the billionaires, being a billionaire doesn't mean you have a billion dollars at your disposal. Elon Musk has a net worth in the 100's of billions but only has just over 5 billion of liquid net worth.

We are way more talented than mac level. Where do you get this from? We were not out talented other than iu and usc

No way you win out with MAC level talent. Even against MIN and Maryland, who are better coached.

He thinks it’s moot. State might win 1 more. winning out would likely save Smith’s job. But how likely is a 4-game winning streak? the Spartans can’t play 4 quarters of good football. If the defense performs, the offense sputters. and the Spartans lack skill and talent to overcome a lousy officiating call.. as when State recovered a fumble on the UM 38 yard line. Instead of driving for a score and changing the game, the turnover gets nullified by a bad call

Maybe we just watched different games and leave it at that. What I saw was a MSU team full of players that are smaller, slower, and not as strong as their big ten opponent’s players. It wasn’t even close as far as I am concerned. A coaching deficit also present for sure. Worse players combined w worse coaches results in a team that is 0-5 in big ten play. You can defend the players all you want it if makes you feel better. But the rest of us know the reality.

We need better players to get to 10 wins. We need a bit more depth. We really need coaches to get to .500 we slow and weak because we ar out position. And not well coached

eli deceased, so would have to be foundation and/or descendants. eli gave to the arts, not sure there was ever interest in sports. likely others in the "not into sports" group in the list of 12, but didn't rule any of them out since i don't have a clue.
