Heupel is elite

He has hung a lot of points on some damn good defensive minds. He hung 52 on Saban in 2022. I’m not worried about us scoring today or any day with who we have at QB. We have the best offense in the SEC. Create some turnovers today (which we will) and give our offense a couple extra opportunities. I don’t understand the worry today.

Create turnovers against a team that doesn’t turn it over is our game plan. Awesome..

He is a very good offensive mind. He is also responsible for every part of the team. Not just the offense. He is the head coach. josh is very good in some areas including recruiting. I don’t think he is a complete head coach yet. Including managing road games. at some point he has to break through in true road games against good teams. He has not yet

I think the worry is simply that this program historically isn't the best at getting monkeys off our backs. We prefer to wait until they're full grown silverback gorillas before we finally get rid of them. Haven't won in Tuscaloosa since 2003. Is this 22 yr old monkey finally big enough to shuck it off? I guess we'll see.

You can't have zero championships and be considered elite..

I think he has done a good job here. I admit his game management frustrates the hell out of me.

So by this logic Charles Barkley Dan Marino are not elite and Robert Horry Brad Johnson are? That makes no sense. Championships while important have very little to do with how elite any coach and player are especially in a team sport with 10-13 coaches and many more analysts I do agree that Heupel is very good and not elite however but a blanket statement like the above I cannot agree with.

You can make that argument for players…not coaches.

I just don’t see elite game/clock management especially on the road. His players saved him in Starkville. You can not manage a game like that in the last 2 minutes and be elite again I think he has done a good job here. But elite? No

So you would rather have Fulmer right now than Heupel. Got it.

Yeah agree to disagree. If you do not think Rick Barnes is an elite coach I don’t know what to tell you. John Calipari is the farthest thing from elite

Do you think Ryan Day is elite at Ohio State? I sure don’t.

Is Ed Orgeron elite or unemployed?

He is a good head coach and top 5 in the sec. Definitely not elite though.

Until Heupel win 47 games in a row out scoring his opponents 65-0. Until his defense holds his opponents to five yards passing and negative 37 yards rushing. Then and only then in some minds will he be elite. I’ve said it once and I’ll post it again GQ logic is a wild phenomenon.

ok….. he gonna have to learn how to win on the road against good teams. If you think he is elite right now we can agree to disagree. Like I said above i think he is a good coach. But there are areas I think he needs to improve on. Some a lot. of course saying he is a good coach isn’t good enough fir some on here at least I admit it. He scares the crap out of me in 4th quarters. He is very shaky. Jmo

Until we have equally good/great skill guys on both sides of the ball we aren’t getting over the hump….its the tale of two teams right now….90’s-2000’s offensive talent and the defense is at best average

Yep, I like our HC, just needs some adjustments…can he do that remains to be seen.

I'm not worried about it but I don't think UT will win. I hope they do win.

I don’t think it’s just huepel. As a Tennessee fan, I don’t remember ever feeling safe in fourth quarter with a 2 score lead no matter who was coaching
