I like Beck, but

We cannot waste our Heisman campaign on him if he always disappears against Elite Defenses. Bain, on the other hand, is my pick for our Heisman campaign until Beck learns how to take over games.

What team has an elite defense that is on the remainder of Miami schedule?

Good point. Maybe FSU, Syracuse (Fran Brown is a former DC), Louisville, and NC State are all playing good defense. Maybe not elite, but good defense. But that is not the point. Our best player on the team is Bain by a long shot as he is arguably our best chance to anyone on the team winning the Heisman trophy.

Ha hahaha. Tell me how many games has Beck taken over compared to Bain? You can scheme against Beck with a two high safety, but no one has been able to scheme against Bain. Guess you are not using your paid subscription well enough to read any of Matt Shodell's posts.

Why put two teammates against each other? We're better than that. I think right now the focus is winning football. Not individual awards and I really don't believe Beck cares about those awards. Bain doesn't have the sacks for a Hiesman at the moment but again. He needs to just keep doing what he is doing. The Hiesman is mostly an offensive award anyway.

Such a silly convo. We’re fans. Chill out, sit back and enjoy what we can. They’re all playing to win and for NFL $.

He doesn't have the sacks yet. Those will come as when the offense begins to put teams away early, but when has any player graded out in 90s every single game. This is a rare feat that needs to be recognized. He is a complete DE not just a simple Edge Rusher. He sets the edge every single time on a run play and gets pressure on the QB on nearly every pass play. His play is off the charts compared to anyone on the team or in the nation.

We are incredibly lucky to have Beck. He had an off game in bad weather-BFD

He will probably win his awards for that position. Not the Hiesman which is an offensive players award mostly and a popularity contest. I don't see people voting for a Miami player under these parameters.

Kid just wins, enjoy it. He’s what? Like 28-3 as a starter or something. That drive to seal the game is why we got him. 8:00 TD drive, no mistakes, pound the ball, adjust the line. That was as beautiful as it gets. Last possession against ND i knew he was going down the field and getting points even though ND had momentum. Winners win, may not be pretty all the time though. He’s the anti-Tua in crunch time.

Yep!!! and that's all I care about! Sometimes it is going to get ugly. Sometimes it will look pretty but he just wins. He is a winner and I love it! I don't need style on every play every week. We have to have an answer for everything because we will see coordinators trying everything to counter what we do. You can say anything you want about Beck but the thing I love about him most is that he hates to lose.

Syracuse has a bad defense and NC State might have the worst defense in the ACC

Unless he starts playing tight end in addition to defensive end, Bain has exactly a 0% chance of winning the Heisman even if he gets 5 sacks and an interception every game for the rest of the season.

The gameplan was very conservative because of the rain and the fact that the FL offense could do nothing against our defense, so I'm going to cut Beck some slack. Also, the FL defense is also very good, so why risk losing the game by being overly aggressive? We got the W, so all good here. We just need to keep getting better every week and if we do, we might have a very special season.

I try to remind myself that he didn’t throw for months while rehabbing his arm. With the rain and UF offense sucking I am going to reserve judgement until after the FSU game. FSU game will tell us a lot about Beck.

Our Heisman campaign?! Waste our Heisman campaign? Seriously?! Come on man. It’s a trinket. Miami needs to win football games. Just stop. Also, if you really want the Heisman for some reason you cannot seriously think Bain has a shot?! Only two defensive players have won it and they both played…. Offense. No lineman has won it. It goes to offensive skill players. In other news: who cares? Please let’s stop talking abt trinkets.

What campaign lol? The media outlets making those lists are not Miami, and if he continues playing like he did last game, he’s going to fall off those lists just like he did last year. There’s too much football left to play for you to even be concerned with a Heisman award lol.
