It would make zero sense from either camp to make that a thing. Think about the speciality Rhule brings and the type of coach PSU needs. Rhule is a rebuilder, a culture setter, and a CEO. He’s also a huge advocate for Nebraska and is very comfortable here per his own words. His kid attends UNL and his wife owns a business. He has every facility and facet of modern CFB at his disposal. He’s never not gotten a donation when he’s needed it. He’s got a rocking AD, university president, and staff. The finances at UNL are perfect. He advocates growing where your planted every day and at Nebraska, outside from some fan noise, there’s no distraction from football. Plus the man’s in his 50’s. At that age you just want to have a nice house, a routine, and not have too much unneeded drama in your life. I know he’s buddy-buddy with Pat Kraft, but even Kraft knows it’s a horrible match. PSU isn’t in the Sandusky scandal anymore. They’re not reeling for a savior. They’re not struggling to build a foundation. They have all of the recruiting they could ask for. The money and brand they need. They’re not a bad culture either. Also, for Rhule to completely abandon something he’s been building for three years and haven’t been able to reap the benefits of what’s to come in the future (especially when this 24, 25, and 27 class is all meshed together onto one team) there’s some pride he has in that and he knows Nebraska is a program worth seeing that through at unlike Temple or Baylor.
The only way possible this occurs is if it’s completely emotional and something he feels like he owes to his 10 year old self, which knowing Matt he doesn’t make visceral decisions.
SO STOP THE INTUITION
