Joel Klatt has never been a high IQ guy. He’s had bad takes his whole career. I have no idea what he said about Auburn but I would not waste time on anything he says.

The argument that gets me is "well Auburn isn't a good job because it's in the same state as Alabama." Like why do geographical state lines matter so much? Everyone in the SEC is competing against Alabama and everyone else. Is Texas A&M not a good job because it's in the same state as Texas? Is North Carolina a bad basketball job because it's in the same state as Duke? It makes absolutely no logical sense other than he wanted to glaze the mighty Alabama for the Birmingham audience and trash Auburn. A good job is about resources, facilities, recruiting area, and admin support. Auburn definitely is elite or close to it for all of those. The only knock on Auburn was the "booster meddling" but it sounds like that is not the issue it used to be. David Pollack and Josh Pate already basically said Klatt's take was moronic.
