If Matt Rhule leaves…😎

Could we hire James Franklin? I hear he is looking for a job, and the guy can coach. No but seriously, tell me you wouldn’t want that guy. He’s a better coach than anyone we have had at NU since Osborne.

There are other guys that I would prefer, but he would be a solid option. He’s going to have plenty of suitors though.

Who would you prefer over Franklin? Also, it would be something if he got fired only to level up to a “better” job at an SEC school. I can’t think of the last time that had happened.

In a perfect world, IF Rhule goes to PSU, we get Lane Kiffin to come home and Franklin lands at Ole Miss. Poor guys eyes would pop of his sockets even under those sunglasses if he was walking Hotty Toddy land.

Lane Kiffin first choice for me, he was my first choice when we hired Rhule. But Ed Orgeron would be an intriguing name as well.

If Matt Rhule leaves which I hope he stays. I think Matt Campbell gets the call.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Pat Fitzgerald. The biggest concern will be that he hasn’t really coached since the NIL era began but that should really be a GM role.

OMG there are some terrible suggestions in these threads. I'm talking Shawn Eichorst level. I'm glad Dannen would be leading the charge.

Deon That is how his name is actually spelled. He added the I, because we all know there is a very big I in Deion. Has to do we ei ei o. and no, I dont want him as a coach.

Kliff Kingsbury got fired from Texas Tech and got an NFL HC job the same offseason. Top tier candidates for me would be Chris Petersen, DeBoer, Kiffin. All doubtful. I think I would prefer Dan Mullen over Franklin as well.

I hope Rhule doesn’t leave. You DeBoer and Kiffin folks will be really disappointed really quickly.

He won't leave Bama for Nebraska. Now if he goes 9-3 again and sits out the playoffs another year, I can see him getting the boot and then i would gladly take him.

Worked for Dannen at Washington. Great Plains guy. Prolly hates Bama IMO

Kiffin would be a riot with our media. Franklin wouldn't fit but he's a good swing. No KSU/ISU/KU guys - need a big boy leader with NIL, etc DeBoer would be a home run but don't see it happening at all, he prob has a few years of grace left

I am not a Kiffin fan at all. But I would sure take him. College football isn’t what it was. Especially our beloved program. The days of having a coach, you respect who stays at your program for decades are over. Or so it seems. I completely understand why Rhule might want to go home. So from my point of view, there will be limited hard feelings if he leaves. But I certainly will be disillusioned. I feel like we finally have a coach that’s a program builder, a culture builder and a coach that is perfect for dealing with all the changes in college football. I would be hugely disappointed if he left. It seems somebody like him, would be very difficult to find. I know fit is important. But so is winning. If Dannen feels like Kiffin could do that here, and Kiffin wanted to come. I’d be fine with that. I would certainly be willing to Franklin here too. He could bring that kind of success in Nebraska. I think we’d all be pretty happy. At least for a while. lol
