If Sherrone got Mateer out the portal

He would still be spewing this “don’t run the qb” BS. He Could have Lamar Jackson but NOPE he might get hurt. There’s no way he serious.

I told someone on the fort in a different thread, if we had Mateer he would have had 3 runs for 4 yards. Moore doesn’t believe in running QBs, and we as a fan base need to just accept that while he is our HC. BU will be lucky to have 400 rushing yards (if that) during his 3 year stint here if we are lucky! JJ had 600 yards and Jim was a far more willing coach in terms of running his QB (Colin and Luck and proof). Moore not so much.

Moore might not be at Michigan as long as he wants. I see a lot of delusion and just bad coaching. It could be 5 losses this year again.

It’s funny that everyone hated Day because he wouldn’t run Stroud. He finally got Will and look what happened.

I think Stroud wasn’t willing to run.

When you don’t have a capable backup that you trust, he isn’t going to run the risk of injury. Now the argument is, why don’t we have a capable backup?

B/c the backup got injured…

Ifs and buts are nothing more than useless speculation. There's little doubt Underwood has the ability to run. However, the shortcomings of the Michigan offense start with the offensive line. This unit needs to be better before traveling to Nebraska.

You got a 4* who’s been in the program for 2 years now that should be able to step in if Underwood got banged up. We heard all camp how he’s improving.

Davis? Naw man and if he is capable, then why are you worried about running Bryce?

That's on the staff. Keene's injury occurred last year. I know it isn't easy recruiting a backup QB in the portal when the starter is a freshman, but you probably shouldn't bring in a guy coming off a shoulder injury.

His injury occurred when he was here at Michigan. After he transferred. We didn’t go after a backup who we knew was going to be out for a prolonged period of time with a torn pec.

Why is Michigan still throwing the ball, then? Same or higher risk of injury standing behind that OL.

Mateer was never coming to Michigan... Mateer followed his OC that he's had for a couple years to OK. You can believe that what is in that thread... but I see zero truth to this. Mateer had a no contact tag and went to OK pretty quickly IIRC

Will Howard ran for 226 yards in 16 games last year 2.2 ypc. I know sacks are factored in.. but point is, he didn’t run much

People have short memories when reality doesn't fit their narrative.

I don’t think anyone is saying Mateer was going to come here, but whether or not he’d be properly used if he was here. You can’t confidently say he would be based on what we’ve seen with running the QB with Sherrone Moore.

The endless hypothetical comments are something...Does anyone think the current situation could be entirely different if there was the #1 player from the 2024 class sitting on the bench?

You’re saying if we have the number 1 QB in the 2025 class and the number 1 QB in the 2024 class, we’d run Bryce? Thats a pointless hypothetical because we will never have that QB depth. In the real world, basically every team has a questionable backup QB situation, because you can make too much money now to sit on the bench if you are any good, and teams have to decide whether to run their QB given that uncertainty. Sherrone Moore appears to be one of the only coaches who has decided not to, and we can point to the real world where he doesn’t run the QB.

Stick to your hypotheticals then I guess...

He also got absolutely blown up by Michigan and probably cost them a shot at winning 🤔
