Indiana and Coach Cignetti

I'm surprised that no one is discussing the beat down that Indiana put on #9 Illinois. Coach Cignetti has put together another competitive team after last years 11 and 2 season, one of those losses against ND in the playoffs. After their beat down on #9 Illinois with up to this point was beating up on every team they played, I am amazed that Indiana held them to 10 points while putting up over 60 points against a good defense Of all the games PSU has in front of them, including Oregon and Ohio State, Indiana will not be an easy game for our Nittany Lions If I'm over reacting to how well Indiana has played, please get me off the ledge

Indy is very impressive. Their team is jacked and the QB is smooth as silk.

You know I could take the "Drew sucks, Frankie shoulda kept Beau" and "we're getting COOKED by Oregon" (even I'm not confident in a win), but the "We're definitely losing to Indiana" might be too much for me

Duke also had 5 TO's in that game, which led to a lot of points for Illinois.

They looked almost freakish last night. Total beat down. I like the energy and attitude they play with. Although I think Cignetti is a bit of an asshat. That said, they represent such a great example of all that is wrong with college football right now. 45 or whatever transfers in a year with most from one school, JMU. Like Colorado and their 70 transfers and now Texas Tech and their roster re-do and money surge. It simply should not be. I know, I know ADIDAS is going to get us a national championship, right? But something has to change. It’s just SO stupid.

Good team. Is great for the conference to have them playing this well. If Indiana and SC are legit, the conference looks pretty strong at the top. Should have 6-7 ranked teams this year.

Cignetti is a giant prick. He has very quickly vaulted to being one of the least likable guys in the sport.

Keep in mind Illinois had 4 defensive backs out. Not saying Indiana still wouldn’t have looked good offensively, but that definitely did play a big role in them steamrolling Illinois

I never said it was going to be a loss just going to be a tougher game than anticipated

It's being discussed in the other games thread. Indiana will be very good again, but Illinois was down 6 of there top 7 in the secondary. I had higher expectations for them, but when all is said an done they probably won't end up being ranked given how they played yesterday. Remember Indiana looked like this to start the year. The demolished a solid Nebraska team in a similar fashion. Once they started playing teams that could match up with them talent wise they looked like a different team. Michigan mostly held them in check, and only lost because of their QB situation. Ohio State and Notre Dame completely shut them down. I suspect we will see something similar when they play Oregon in a few weeks.

I think they said they had maybe 4 starters missing from the defense. But still, I am impressed with IU.

A bunch of stuff is true: - Indiana is legit, credit to them. - Illinois is not a Top 10 Team - If Indiana is only the 40th best team in the country, that win would have been impressive. - Indiana laid down beat downs like this all last year too, and got manhandled by OSU and ND. I like to think we’re on that tier. - Welcoming a media darling Top 10 Indiana to Beaver Stadium is a heck of an opportunity for our guys, so long as they come in focused.

Without a doubt. Hopefully the SEC grabs him (Maybe Alabama) and gets him out of the BIG Conference

They beat them so bad, and thus made the game so unwatchable, that it goes virtually unnoticed. Like when we beat Auburn in the Whiteout. People nationally just turned it off and didn’t watch enough of the game to discuss it.

Once Napier is canned in Florida, they would be smart to hire him. He may be a jerk, but so were Belichick, Parcells, etc. It's all about being able to coach & he does that VERY well!!

As far as I can tell, they left their starters in for a majority of the second half despite the massive lead.

If I were WVU or Pitt I would go after him with all the money available. I think Mike Shanahan will be in big demand as well.

Lol. Pitt and WVU don't have all the money available. Welcome to the new divide in CFB.

What helps is that Indiana is now gonna make this a three game season for us along with Ohio State and Oregon. Someone posted this on TOS and I agree with it. Assuming we beat everyone else on our schedule (and we will be favored by a TD at a minimum) we win one of those three games were in the playoffs, but no one is exactly over the moon about it. We win two of those games it is a very successful regular season for us.

They better come up with it. The RichRod do over at WVU is not going well.

From where? The ACC and Big 12 are the feeder for the big ten and sec. Cignetti is already above those jobs. He's not going down to those jobs. And even Indiana isn't going to get beat on money vs those teams

I only watched the game in passing but I saw the targeting in the Illinois safety. What the hell is the targeting rule anymore.
