Is Mensah a done deal?

He announced that he was entering the portal, I don't think that Duke has actually put him into the portal. But the last day that one can register for classes at Miami is Wednesday. So if he is going to be eligible for spring, he has to be registered at Miami by Wednesday. I also heard, that he has not attended classes at Duke this semester and in fact hasn't been there and has been in the Tampa area. I don't know how true that is, but it would seem logical to me that this was not a last-minute thing if he hadn't started classes at Duke last week or whenever they started.

Never a done deal. Mansah is not the Messiah. Let's win tomorrow! That is way more important.

There hasn't even been an announcement he is visiting, nevermind that its a done deal. This issue should be put on hold until after the game.

I did read that he will be on the Miami sideline during the game on Monday. Not sure if that is 100% accurate.

That would be amazing.

He’s been away from Duke for quite some time. He’s been in Tampa training. The “word” is he will be a the game but not on the sidelines. In the stands/suite. Duke knew he was entering in before it was publicly announced. He’ll likely “officially” be entered in the portal Tuesday or Wednesday.

One indicator of his intent is the fact that classes at Duke began on January 7 and he remained in Tampa at a training facility. Looks like his intent was to wait until the end of portal entry period, have his agent evaluate options, and then take the plunge. Have to believe all of the publicity regarding Miami / Tennessee interest in Simpson at $6M + in addition to the chance to go from a weak program to UM with a shot at the CFP AND draft improvement ... all became just too much to ignore. Agent makes contact ... interest mutual ... done deal.

He's not officially in the portal yet which has to be done by Duke. Until he is, he can't take official visits.

He filed the paperwork to enter. The current school has to process it (I think they have 48 hours) to actually put a player in the portal.

He can enroll in classes… just like Lucas did. No regulating authority on earth can keep a kid from enrolling in ANY school.

He submitted his papers to Duke on Friday and they have 48 hours to process them (believe 48 hours business week).

If it is business days then he won't be in the portal until Wednesday so he'll have to immediately enroll assuming he's coming to Miami.

The entire issue is HOW is he compensated financially in a legal manner without violating his NIL agreement with Duke? Options: 1. Buyout his Duke deal paying Duke $4Million for his rights (Duke may decline interest). 2. Don't pay him NIL ... but rather source his compensation 100% from revenue sharing allocation? Going to be an interesting exercise. Kid has a legit shot at the Heisman and top 5 draft pick by playing at UM with this OL and offensive scheme + skill players on this roster. WIN/ WIN for Mensah and Miami (and the UM fans).

Beck didn't play in spring, why such of a rush? He can still learn the system.

But he was here going through all the meetings and taking mental reps with the receivers talking coverages and adjustments. That’s why he was ready when he could finally throw.

Exactly. Nothing can really stop him from playing football and going to Miami next year. The rest is just money and paperwork
