Is Oregon really that good??

I think the Ducks got exposed a bit vs Northwestern a couple of weeks ago....it wasn't a wipe out Montana State 59-13 a FSC opponent Oklahoma State 69-3, They fired the cosch At Northwestern 34-14....we cant be as good as NW on Saturday night?? Oregon State 0-7, Fired the coach Sunday, won 41-7.... Won at PSU 30-24 in OT, but had 17 regulation points.....PSU is simply overrated and not that good.....fired their coach Hosted Indiana, lost 30-20, only scored 13 offensive points, 7 came on a Pick 6. Instead of stating the obvious during the Press conference yesterday about not having an AD, we all know this.....Hobbs has now been gone a whole year now.....he was not the AD when you hired Robb Smith this winter. Find a way to not get embarrassed Saturday night.....RU is the clear 2nd best offense Oregon has faced this year.....its better than Oklahoma State, Oregon State and YES, RU has a better offense than Penn State..... Maybe with some imagination, the staff can watch the tape of Indiana and Northwestern and run the exact same game plan.....there's NO excuse on having to say "RU has their defense".....this defense IS NOT WORKING... You have since Saturday Night to watch the NW tape and Indiana tape and simulate the same looks and slow down Oregon, who cannot run the ball.....They don't have a power back and play a soft brand of speed football.....We can run on Oregon and with a Tilted Nose Tackle, get upfield and slow them down on the ground. This notion of Oregon being this powerhouse of an offense is NOT true.....they've played one legitimate opponent, now that PSU has been exposed as not good Go play a game and be competitive, change the looks you give them and they cant cover Duff or Strong, if they cant cover Indiana WRs, who are solid, but not great. Only question is "can Schiano adjust on the fly.....can this well paid staff (Top 15 pay scale in CFB) devise a game plan to not allow 7 to 8 yards a play???

I worry about trying to block Bear Alexander on their defensive line. Athan may run for his life.

there are more NC winners with 1 and 2 losses than without. it happens and Oregon is every bit as good as advertised remember, OSU was 4th in the BIG last year and won the NC. Oregon is going to beat us by 30 points and Oregon beats OSU imho

Math doesn’t seem to favor us as we tend to make every opposing QB look like a heisman candidate. We only scored 19 on Wash and Oregon has better players than Wash. Oregon by 3 TDs. I hope you are right though.

via the law of transitive properties, you can certainly make this case that Oregon is over-rated and has a lot of faults. or you could watch the tape... and hope we don't lose by 30

Hawk, I admire your positivity here, but remember that our defense has given up: - 31 to Ohio - 38 to Iowa - 31 to Minnesota - 38 to Washington This tells me that we need to score 40+ in order to beat any Big Ten team, let alone a team with a top offense with speed to burn. Especially with their backs against the national championship wall after losing to Indiana, Oregon is going to boat-race us in front of our Homecoming crowd. Probably something like 52-24.

Yes they are. And in CFB ranked teams can be not all that good. There’s very little difference if any between 6/7 win teams, and even most 8 win teams. Many “good” or “successful” teams don’t go over .500 in conference play. A concept people don’t seem to apply to other programs but can’t help but lament with our own bowl teams.

I was thinking same after they lost pretty convincingly to Indy and didn't impress that much over a lousy PS team; but I'm figuring they score at least 42 points on us; I just hoping it isn't in the first half.

We seem to also have a habit of folding like a cheap suit. They haven’t given us any reason to think that once we’re behind that they wont steamroll us

Oregon is extremely similar to Washington in performance this year. In fact I did a hypothetical game of Oregon at Washington and it is essentially a toss up game. https://www.cfb-graphs.com/protected/matchups. Washington's offense is slightly better than Oregon, but Oregon with the better defense. Bottom line, Oregon is not playing like a top 5 or 10 team. They are over rated for sure, BUT still a much better team than RU. I think this game can be very much like Washington, Likely result is 2 to 3 TD loss, BUT if a few breaks go RUs way an upset is not a miracle. I am not sure ANY defense will work for RU, but suspect they are going to go the exact opposite of the Washington game plan. VERY soft, keep everything in front of you, don't blitz. Will it work? Probably not but if we load the fronts and blitz I think we almost guaranteed get a repeat performance of Washington.

What if NW and Indiana have quality defenses? We have an opportunity on Saturday and I guess we will find out. NW was down 34-0 with 11 minutes left in the game against Oregon and they did beat PSU. With the right OC and mindset, I feel like this group on offense can score 40. Will it happen? Not with Kirk's playbook. I'm gonna say we lose 42-52ish to 17-24ish.

Oregon is not playing like a top 5-10 team? SMH They are similar to Washington, but just bc random AP voters didn’t give Washington the top 15 little number next to their name that they deserve, it does not make oregons similarities to Washington mean Oregon isn’t top 5-10.

NW D is way better than RU and it was 34-0 before Oregon coasted to 34-14. Op is really reaching here for no reason
