Some fans may recognize Neck in specific regions or at certain schools but it does not have the same national impact or cultural prominence as Rocky Top. It lacks the widespread recognition within college football imo.Yes Neck played by LSU and most HBCU bands

de1conley said:I love Neck but for CFB fans I think you’re off by a bit here. Rocky Top is extremely well known in the college football world by all. It’s prob the most well known tradition of the program. There’s very few programs that might have more well known chants/songs. FSU war chant, Hail to the Victors, ND victory march…doesn’t get much more well known. It’s extremely uniqueNot true at all its coast to coast

We also know what schools those songs go to. But i do think even casual fans associate Rocky Top with Tennessee football. I am not sure there are many if any other songs that are that universally associated with school by everyone.

When most people hear Rocky Top these days (unless they clog for a hobby), they relate it to the University of Tennessee.Rocky Top - Tennessee Hang On Sloopy - Ohio State Country Roads - West Virginia
