Is this true about nico? Or bs?

So I asked Google AI and it's response is Yes, it appears Nico Iamaleava is stepping away from football temporarily to focus on his mental well-being, according to reports from September 13, 2025. After the UCLA Bruins' loss to the Lobos, Iamaleava reportedly held a team meeting where he announced his decision, citing that his heart wasn't fully invested in the game at the moment. Details of the Announcement

When: After a loss to the Lobos on Friday.
Where: During a team meeting.
What: He announced he would step away from football temporarily.
Why: To focus on his mental well-being and because his "heart is not fully invested at this time".
Context

Iamaleava had a difficult start to his first season at UCLA after transferring from Tennessee.
His decision comes shortly after UCLA fired head coach DeShaun Foster following three straight losses.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenges and pressures within college football regarding player performance, transfers, and mental health.
But I can find no articles on it.

JFC. Y’all will run to AI with fucking anything. Google AI specifically will make up shit you want to hear if it can’t find an answer. Short answer, no, the random thing you saw in FB and then asked AI for confirmation on is not true.

Not everyone is an internet savant. I don't know how ai works. I really don't give a shit how it works. If it pisses you off so fucking badly then I suggest staying the fuck outta the thread and let it ruin someone else's day.

I doubt that is true. AI is likely responding based on this lone report. I would also suspect that if this were true, there would be much more coverage of the decision in the national media.

It may not be true. But his family will get Nico off that feild somehow. More than likely some phantom injury. Nico transferring is the only way big Nic can hope to squeeze every last $ from his golden goose. And some coach will see his arm and take a chance on him. You saw it with Josh Heupel taking Joe Milton. "I can fix him." no coach Harbaugh couldn't fix and you can't either. No offense to Joe he is a VFL and did the best he could.

I don’t blame OP for asking this. Although not true, nothing would surprise me with Nico and this family.

When you compare the headline to nico it makes you think it could be possible.

This is the exact problem. It applies to far more than sports too, including politics. People see something online that they agree with (e.g I don’t like Nico, so it makes sense that Nico did this crazy thing. I don’t like politician John Doe, so it makes sense that he said this crazy thing) and they assume it is true and run with it. That’s how disinformation is spread. When you see something online your immediate response should *always* be, “this could be fake, I should find a second source”. Don’t ask AI, because as the example above shows, it will lie to you. Do a google search. If you can’t find any other source confirming what you’re seeing, it’s probably fake. Or if the source is a Facebook page called “elite gridiron”, you can skip the search and assume it’s fake. If you struggle with this, consider asking your grandchildren how to safely use the internet.

Don't rely so much on AI. If no articles, then it's not true.

Looks like Ai will succeed in dumbing down society as planned and taking away discernment..A real quick check and a story this big could be validated somewhere reputable or maybe even UCLA news
