That’s an idiotic take. Ask Venables and Elliot if it was Dabo. They both have emulated his program almost to a tee as head coaches.

This isn't really the right way of looking at it. The right way of looking at it is Dabo hasn't been able to re-create the success that GROUP had because he became completely self-obsessed and arrogant because of his belief that he could win with anyone and filled the entire program with clown show yes men who aren't qualified to fill up water bottles at practice much less coordinate, recruit, and coach a position group. That has, among other things, resulted in the steady and consistent decline we've seen in the 2020's.

Huh? No..... no they haven't. OU sucked under BV until he went hard in the portal across the board. They would still be a bottom feeder SEC team if not for a high profile transfer QB.

“Almost to a tee” go look up the signage in Oklahoma’s facilities. It’ll look pretty familiar. If Dabo was handed either of their rosters, he would’ve went heavily into the portal too. To suggest that Dabo isn’t the reason Clemson got to where it did is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen posted on this board! Who hired those guys? Oklahoma was ready to run Venables off as their coordinator, Elliot was 4 years into his coaching career at SC St and Furman when Dabo hired him. Those guys are where they are in large part because of Dabo. Not the other way around!

Talk about jumping to conclusions. Yeah one win for UVA against an overrated FSU team. Pump the brakes. Love Tony but he’s yet to make a bowl game

Correct but Year 4 is a great indicator to me. Season is young though.

Or maybe it was Dabo, Jeff, Brent, Tony, and all the other great coaches and players we had. It takes great players and coaches across the board.

When people say "it wasn't Dabo" I cannot help but laugh Dabo went against the grain and hired Chad Morris when a lot of TI posters wanted fat Ralph and he wanted the job Dabo fired Kevin Steele and brought in Venables and kept him here for as long as he did Dabo brought in Mike Reed Dabo brought Brad and Jeff Scott Dabo took a chance on TE and it worked out Dabo put together the best defensiv staff in CFB with by far the best DL staff with Brooks and Hobby People who do not want to give Dabo credit must not ralizee that these guys did not just come to Clemson by accident. They were hired...

I always thought Elliott would be a better head coach than coordinator. I’m glad he landed someplace that could give him time.

Welcome to CFB.....where posters can crown a coach king after his first big win ( I really like TE and hope has continues to have success)...and completely diminish a HOF 2x natty winner by week 4.

I know who would laugh the hardest of all at the "It was never Dabo; it was BV" premise. BV.

And it was never Saban. It was his high level assistants and nfl QBs and NFL roster.

said another way - the coordinators are why Clemson had success. once Dabo had complete control.....it's gone to hell. yes, he deserves success for hiring them. but now that they have moved on and he's been left to run things completely on his own.......it's a mess. Dabo is the problem.

there are a lot of posters who will never giv Dabo the respect he deserves. Now that things are not going well, they are coming out of the woodworks and almost seemingly enjoying it

Bama lost coordinators frequently. same standard. Dabo loses coordinators and Clemson looks like Bishop Sycamore.

if you think 3 of 4 years in the top 15, 2 confernce championships, and a playoff appearance is not going well then maybe your expectations are too high. This season is an obvious disappointment to date but only 4 coaches in the history of college football have won 9+ games in 14 consecutive seasons...Bobby Bowden, Tom Osborne, Nick Saban and Dabo We all agree this season should be going better and that the team is playing below expectations but som posters, sems like you are one of them, refuse to giv Dabo creedit and show up just to bash him. Handle crated in August and all your posts have been anti-Dabo...
